What do customers of Tonic and Fire Trucks have in common?
They all flock to Millthorpe for smoked mussels 🀣
We attended a call last night where the informant thought they had seen a building on fire, when in fact, there was some smoking of mussels within a containded fire in a fire pit behind a commercial building.
... Now this post is not for embarrassment of the informant. It's a reminder that there is no harm in a call of good faith.
If you have serious concerns and believe there is an emergency, do not hesitate to call 000. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Sunday, 11 November 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War. Every year, Australians observe one minute's silence at 11am, on the 11th of November, in memory and honour of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. Fire and Rescue NSW stations in many towns and cities across NSW will today lay wreaths as a mark of respect. Please join us in paying your respects, and remembering those who have fallen in this important date in Australian and international history.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."
Lest we forget.

Post by Casey
Throughout my individual climb campaign, I was asked a lot of times if I was affected by MND through any family or friends and that was why I had decided to participate in the Firefighters Climb for MND. When I would answer 'No', some people would look at me strangely, a few would even then ask why I was climbing.
I climbed because I was given the opportunity and was in a position to help. I climbed because I was ABLE!!!
... I am able to walk; therefore, I could climb 1504 stairs. I have proper use of my hands; therefore, I could use the handrails for support. I am able to talk; therefore, I could offer other climbers words of encouragement during the climb, which would, in turn, see me receive words of encouragement back. I am able to eat and drink for myself, therefore I could hydrate, rehydrate, fuel and refuel my body. My body is able to recover mostly on its own, therefore I could endure that insignificant amount of punishment I inflicted on my body.
Lining up to commence my climb, I was already feeling fairly overwhelmed and was, myself, doubting/asking myself why I had decided to climb, when I received this video. This is Lexie Bonham and her video is a big reason why I climbed. She proved that greed, hatred, selfishness, ignorance, I could go on, are all mostly learnt or taught behaviours. THIS is why I climbed...

Well, it's all done and dusted (a few more page posts to come though) for 2018 for us and our very generous sponsors and donors, people who donated time or money, businesses who helped financially or with support for our events, everyone who offered words of encouragement to Adam and I. A special mention to our team at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 227 Blayney and especially our captain Tony Kearney. Nothing was too much of us to ask of him, our station and our team and it was ...always a very supportive 'yes'. Thank you all!!!
Our official fundraising total is $5,245!!! A huge effort for 2 firefighters who both work full-time, in a small community of 3500 people, in the middle of the worst drought in recorded history. So again, we thank you.
A thank you to every single organiser of the Firefighters Climb for Motor Neurone Disease. Without any of you, this amazing event would not get off the ground (pun intended) and raised over $2 million in just 4 years. You guys are hero's!!!
To the MND sufferers all over the world, we've got you. Us firefighters have vowed to end this horrid disease.

WE MADE IT!! JUST!!!
No really, a huge effort from all 600 firefighters and volunteers. We didn't think we would do it easy, but it definitely took us by surprise. Even seasoned campaigner Adam Hamilton
98 floors or 1504 stairs to the top of Sydney Tower Eye for Motor Neurone Disease.
... THERE IS STILL TIME TO DONATE https://firiesclimbformnd.gofundraise.com .au/page/Blayney227
