We were invited to WentworthFalls RFS tonight, to show our new appliances and equipment. Great evening had by all.
Morning All
Please be mindful of emergency services personnel attending incidents near roads as they become our workplace.
We always want to turn out and return to station safely so that we can continue to serve and help the community.
This will build on our capability to further serve the communities in which we work and live in.
This morning at 0018, crews from Katoomba, Wentworth Falls and Leura were responded to a house fire at Wentworth Falls. The garage was well alight upon arrival and crews in breathing apparatus commenced fire fighting operations. The house and surrounding properties were saved, unfortunately the garage was not. The scene was handed over to the Police as part of their investigation. All crews then returned to their stations at approx 0330.
Great inside to what we do.
Command, control, coordination, inter-agency cooperation, teamwork, planning and capability are important ingredients in incident resolution.
Well done to all who participated whether in an operational or support capacity role. 🚒
This morning at 0519 we were turned out to a house fire in Leura NSW. The 1930’s house was well a light when we arrived. We take this opportunity to remind everyone to put any coal’s or ash from a fireplace, well away from the house and not near any combustible material. Stay safe!
Well done to all FRNSW stations who responded to this incident, just another example of being prepared for anything 🚒👊
Fire & Rescue NSW Katoomba welcomes all visitors to the Mountains for the long weekend, stay safe, be sensible. Even though we are prepared for anything, we would prefer not to have to come and see you.
Today firefighters from Katoomba, Leura and Wentworth Falls FRNSW worked along side RFS firefighters putting in a hazard reduction at Winmalee. It was a very successful day, the burn went without a hitch, low flame heights, minimal damage to the trees and cleared out the fuel on the ground. The last time this area burnt was over 40 years ago. It was also a great exercise in inter agency operations.
Thank you to all who attended our open day, the support we receive from the community is what makes our job great and it is excellent to interact with the community at our station in a relaxed setting and not at an incident. We are already looking forward to next year
We are here to help, nothing more, nothing less
We support all members of all emergency services, please let us do our job, which is helping you.
