Tonight marks the end of Captain Damian Buchtmann’s employment as a Retained (on-call) fire fighter.
Next week he’ll ‘re-ignite’ his career as a full time Permanent Firefighter along with 13 weeks in the state training college as a new recruit.
Congratulations on achieving your dream. You’ve been a real asset to FRNSW so far and will continue. On behalf of the Port Macquarie community, THANKS.

Our “climb fighters” are still hard at work raising money to help find a cure for MND. Please visit+like+share their page, but most importantly please donate. Likes & Shares are great, but money is what really makes a difference to people’s lives.
Many thanks to the generous businesses like Hungry Workers that have given their support so far.

Fire and Rescue NSW is sending thirteen team members to the USA to support fire fighting operations, including our own Zone Commander, Superintendent Hirst. Good luck everyone. #FRNSW #PreparedForAnything #FireFighter

A small snapshot of yesterday’s Hazard Reduction.
It’s worth noting that the next bushfire season is not far away. Make sure you have a bush fire survival plan before it’s too late.

On behalf of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, with the assistance of our emergency service partners, we will be performing a planned hazard reduction in Port Macquarie tomorrow.
Bushfire Fuel Reduction is necessary to protect life and property in your community and also native flora, fauna and the environment from the extreme effects of summer bushfires, which impact severely on our native bushland each year.

Every time we respond to an incident you can be sure that we encounter drivers that either...
1. Don’t hear or see us. 2. Don’t know what to do when emergency vehicles are approaching.
... At least this can help with the first issue. #FRNSW #PreparedForAnything Mid North Coast NSW Emergency Situations

I would like to say a huge thank you to PM fire and rescue for attending a callout to my mum's this morning. The care and compassion they showed mum was outstanding. Apart from a burnt out hotplate and smoky kitchen, and a very shaken 92 year old mum, all ended well. Thank you Gaven and the team for your prompt assistance and courtesy. Port Macquarie has a fantastic team! We appreciate you!
