Fun run season is firmly upon us with the City 2 Surf yesterday, Brisbane marathon last week and plenty more ahead. What is this you might ask? This is a Cora Ball and it’s a laundry ball used to collect microfibres from clothes. You might know about microbeads being small bits of plastic in cosmetics, well microfibres are an issue too. Many of our clothes are synthetic and when we wash them small bits of microplastics fall off and get washed into our water supply and into the oceans where they are eaten, slowly killing marine life and our ecosystem. The Cora Ball has been invented to hel...p with this. Its shape catches microfibres so that they are collected before hitting our waterways. You might know we support two organisations/ charities, one being Sea Shepherd Australia and the other being Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary. Have you heard of Tencel? It's one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics available which is really important as clothing is a huge contributor of toxic waste. Tencel is made from cellulose from the eucalyptus tree! The trees are grown on land unsuitable for crops and no waste is produced when the cellulose is treated. Tencel is incredibly soft and silky and used by Tasi Travels and Kooshoo, both brands available at F&F. You can find out more here.
