Great pub with a great vibe, provided the gate-keeper bouncer isn’t on a power trip. We approached the pub on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon (Sat 11 Nov) looking forward to our first drink on Remembrance Day and instead of greeting us and asking for ID’s he demanded we line up, against the wall and made us wait till he had finished talking and laughing with his bouncer mates. (It was just us. Not like there were lines of people trying to get in...) Clearly old mate has power issues and likes to imagine he’s an army admiral...get a life. We took our business elsewhere to a pub that treated its patrons with respect.

Possibly the best pub experience I've had in years. Late Friday night. Guinness on tap. One of the best solo musicians doing covers I think I've ever heard. The whole pub was bouncing so much the floor was shaking.

Beautiful old pub, claims to be Sydney's oldest, still has original bar. Small bar out front bistro out back. Worth a visit.

Had a great time in Sydney. My driver told me to make sure I stop in Sydney's Oldest Pub, Fortune of War. Enjoyed a pint of one of the local brews. I can't remember the name. Sorry :)

What a surprising place! Staff and food are vet good. Best Vegetarian Nachos ever! And delicious kangaroo if you have never tasted!

The bistro was well priced and the food was delicious. The cocktail bar had great live entertainment on in the form of the 'piano man'.

Great for early arvo drinks. Sundays are great and staff are always fun to be around. A lot of history and atmosphere here.

Pub with a lot of history and there are plenty of great old photos lining the walls. Bar staff were friendly and good selection of beers

Great pub food and cold beers. What else could you want? Plus the old wood pub atmosphere was perfect.

Fantastic. Just ordered Parmi. So tasty great flavours excellent sauces . Wife had chef special Chicken salads that matched well with Swindlers summer ale👍. We from interstate this being most enjoyable food we eat in Sydney.

One of the best pubs in Sydney - a must for visitors. Excellent atmosphere, great bar staff and the Sunday evening live music sessions are always great fun.

Food was fairly basic. I had an open steak sandwich was was a real workout for my jaws. Beer okay. The atmosphere in the bar was fantastic with live music and everyone joining in.
