A band that is on the up and up. Great material with compositions by Andrea Keller, Glen Doig, Jenna Cave, Ellen Kirkwood and Freyja Garbett Keller is the veteran in this group but the others display a breadth of vision and intelligence that make their works fine examples of writing for jazz large ensembles.
There's rich talent in the soloing department with Loretta Palmeiro and Laura Corney deserving of special mention in the sax section and Ellen Kirkwood in the brass. The... ensemble work projects a bold, full sound that fills the space with joyful energy.
SWJC has already performed with Ingrid and Christine Jensen (2016) and Silke Eberhard (2017) for the past two Sydney International Women's Jazz Festivals. They will be featured with another wonderful musician from overseas at this year's Festival in November. We know who it is but can't tell at this stage. This Thursday night - Chasing the Moon brings alive the exuberant and romantic sounds of Gypsy Jazz in the tradition of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.- expect songs by Piaf as well as instrumentals in the famous French Musette style and swing!

The Soul Divas feature the powerful vocals of Kat Peereboom (who has worked with Earth Wind & Fire and Sammy Davis Jnr) & Natalie Colavito (Australian Idol) in a beautifully crafted tribute to some of the world’s most revered soulful singers, including Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston.

Amazing venue and Frances Madden blew us away with her voice. She would have been better centre stage so she could be seen by all in the club. Would defiantly go back- this time maybe have the sit down meal too.. Great place!
