Great service better than the big company's .

We hired two cars for 11 days and were very satisfied. John added a GPS free, was very relaxed about the time of return of the vehicules, and left us to return the cars with about the same amount of fuel. We took full waiver insurance as our drivers were not used to driving on the 'wrong side' of the road, so we had no need to verify the cars for dents. I booked the cars 3 months in advance and John sent me a mail the week before our hire to confirm he was expecting us, and the cars were waiting for us as promised. I have read so much negative about hire car companies, we have only praise for Freeman Car Rentals.

If you're renting a car in Sydney's North Beach area, can't recommend anyone more highly than Freeman Car Rentals. John's incredibly responsive, maintains his fleet of newish Toyotas well, and his rates are quite affordable. On top of it all, John's one of the nicest, most helpful folks we've met in Oz, and super easy to work with. We happened to be on his morning commute into the office and his evening commute home, and appreciated a pickup from him on his way in to rent in the morning, and a drop-off on his way home at the end of the day after our return. That's a big deal for us.

Friendly staff, car was not the newest model but it worked great, had good handling overall. Prices of Freemans are also cheaper than the other hire car companies.

Very good service at competitive rates. Highly recommend using them than the expensive mainstream rentals.

Went to pick up my car as scheduled today. As I was filling out paperwork one of the men who work there picked up my debit credit card and said "This is not a credit card it's a debit card...it says Debit on it". I pointed out that it has a MasterCard symbol on it and works like a credit card using debit money (couldn't believe I had to explain how a debit credit works).
He rudely said "I don't have to call any bank" after I suggested he call my bank to confirm. He finally came up w a solution "I'll process the card but it will be a $500 bond (instead of $300)". I smelled a rat and asked for all copies of my drivers licence and credit card back and left.
No one can be that stupid as to not know what a debit credit card is. I am now certain that he either
1. Wanted to extort me
2. Refused service based on my ethnicity
3. Didn't have a car to rent to me
4. Is a very "spethal" person
Whatever the reasons are it was the worst service I had anywhere (and I've lived and travelled in many countries). So don't let them waste your time.
Cheap comes at a price.

I was grateful for the immediate availability of a car from Freeman car rental. The staff were professional and courteous. Highly recommended.
