Friends Of Old Government House

Had high tea for hens afternoon and the food was disappointing. It cost $40 for the high tea, and although this is slightly cheaper than most 5 star hotels in the city, the quality of food was sub-standard. There was no high-tea feel in the food presented. When we asked for tea, the staff had to go and check if they had anything aside from milk tea.

Service was good and they gave us a private room however I would not come back here again for the price we had to pay.

I had planned this event with family members as a joint birthday celebration and was led to believe it was very special. The food was tasty and there was plenty of it; however no special china cups for tea, I spilt my coffee and no support was offered, no tea menu and had to keep asking for more tea and coffee. I felt embarrassed at this and the huge sandwiches were a far cry from the dainty ones envisaged. I felt embarrassed as my family were disappointed, having been to other high teas.

I held a dinner party for 15 people here and everything couldn't have been more wonderful!

We used a private dining room, with menus printed with a logo representing the theme of the evening. It was no trouble to change table setting at the last moment.

The service was excellent; as guests arrived we had drinks and hor d'oeurves in the courtyard. Drinks and food service was attentive and prompt. The staff were there wanting to make sure that my guets and I had a great night!

Meals were excellent- something for everyone, including vegetarian options- beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian options all good!! And the desserts were jsut what desserts should be- sweet indulgence but not too big!!

I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special night out; it has so much to offer that you just won't find elsewhere!
