Mitsou Shoji & Felicity O'Connor
The first collaboration between Gallery KLEI and Handpicked Wines Cellar Door launching a pop up Gallery. This display of works sets the stage for the current and upcoming exhibitions seeing paintings and ceramics displayed together.
... The artists Mitsuo Shoji and Felicity O’Connor employ opposite mediums in their art making practices, however there is a synergy present in both their works.
The impulsive and passionate brushstrokes are evident of an emotionally charged moment attempting to break through the surface. The works invite the viewer to look deeper, in search of a hidden layer within the work and themselves.
Fūkei + Yōki | Landscape + Vessel is a fusing together of both mediums, much like oil paint combines with the canvas and ceramics fires together in a kiln.
