I do not care that the place is a DUMP. Stuck in a time warp. I have known that for over 5 years. And not much has changed since the late 80's. I knew there was no air con or heating. Which is tough to train no matter what season it is. What I do care about is being able to actually use the equipment in the weight room, that I pay to use. I am so over not being able to use the pin loaded machines. It is a miracle if you can actually remove the pin and actually put it on the weight you want to use. Today there were 4 machines i could not use. The trainers and membership staff are aware of the state of the equipment. I get it...not their problem....whatever...it actually is!! I originally spoke to some of the trainers etc about it, in general chit chat when Genesis first took over. They agreed. Even agreed there are not the weight plates to go around too. This was when motivation was high with the new staff. Excited. I even saw a new staff membership guy have a "pre-workout tonic" rage/tanty with the smith machine as he couldn't remove the weights. Three of us looked at each other and grinned, then commented "Welcome to my world" and said other things. So, all are aware of it. I have written two complaint forms out in a year, but it seems they go missing or go missing before they reach management. Weird. As I know the manager there would see something done, and contact me personally. I did mention in person to one staff member the ladies toilets about the state they are in, such a shame to see they are not looked after for a new toilet/change block. And bingo.. You can see the streaks from the cloth that was used to actually wipe down the laminated walls.. (ok, ok, I am thinking the same. But hey, it is a start) Shame they forgot to wipe the snot/poo marks off the painted walls. And you would think that the 'new' staff with the Genesis organisation who are aware of these issues who sit behind their office desks busy texting on their phones and chit chatting between themselves, acting busy would actually care about making this gym THE place to train.....since this is what they preach. I am not sure exactly what they are paid to do...or look like to do. Many others comment the same. I could be wrong, but just an expense not an asset. I guess this organisation taking over is CLEARLY saying they are about the $$$ reaching goals. Not the state of the gym, nor members. Its almost like the old staff still really care, and the new staff could not care less. Tsk tsk. I know what I paid for my membership last year. Not sure what the go is this year. Nor do I care, for me its not a $$$ issue. For me its if I can use the weight room, since thats what i go to the gym for. I miss the monthly emails that use to go out with Howzat. And with the so called changes going to happen in the distant future at Genesis Cooks Hill, a monthly email should still be going out...and with updates!! A no brainer!! Anyway... I will be moving on.... I see the membership recruiters at shopping centres and cringe at the new people who they are trying to suck in blindly. If you are after a gym for just classes only, awesome, join up! Eat your heart out!! Nothing can go wrong there!! If you are after equipment....RUN fast in the opposite direction!! It is soooo not worth the money, nor a one star. I would not give it a star. Simples!
