Genre Consulting Pty Ltd is a privately owned for-profit enterprise which was established by Peter Johnston in 1997 to advise Telstra Corporation Ltd on risk assessment, risk mitigation and risk monitoring associated with the Year 2000 (Y2K) Bug in Telstra's non-network property portfolio. Other clients between 1997-2000 included Bovis, Lend-Lease Australia and Bank of America, where the consulting services were in property-base project management and reengineering back-office business process in the Asia Pacific Human Resource Division. After 2000, Genre was relocated to Tamworth NSW, where it has focussed on delivering business, management and corporate services to the local community-based, not-for-profit, non-government-organisation and charitable sector. Clients have included the Tamworth Local Aboriginal and Council (LALC), the New England /North West & Mid-North Coast Family Referral Service (FRS), Pathfinders (Corporate) Ltd, Lifeline North West NSW (lifeline Armidale establishment), and the National Aboriginal Birth Certificate (NABC) Project.
