The music plays and what can you say...it was a good day to dance!
Been helping my sister for a couple of months at this market...My observation is that the owners of this market is inconsiderate, lacks empathy and understanding to the stallholders (even to existing ones). To them it's all about PROFITS. The running of this market should be handed back to be run by the community that supports stallholders. Examples of the greed and lack of support for their stallholders.
1. They resell your stall to other people if you turn up late to set up your stall or cancel due your stall without giving you any refund even if you have legit reasons and have given them plenty of prior notice. This way they can make double the money.
2. Back in June 4th 2016, when Sydney had the biggest rainfall in 15 years, everyone was advised to stay home for that weekend because of flooding etc...they did not cancel the market (other market operators would cancel market if the weather condition is not good for trading) and all stallholders lost their rent money for the day without receiving a cent back. Whilst they still collected all the money for rent from over 150 stalls for that day.
3. They have tried to pack as many stalls a possible into the school grounds. Often it is hard for people to set up their tents due to the tight squeeze.
