It was an honour to host the 2018 Chili Chompers Global Hot Sauce Awards at the NZ HOT SAUCE Festival this year.
Thanks to Clint Meyer from Fire Dragon Chillies, Mark Anthony Jackson from Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen and the NZ chilliheads for the opportunity to be part of this great Chilli Festival.

In the first year of the Chili Chompers Global Hot Sauce Awards we raised a total of $767 NZD.
Thank you to all of the company owners / sauce makers who entered the Tasting Panel competition this year. Jersey Barnfire Hot Sauce, LLC, Jolokia Farm, Primo's Peppers, Australian Extreme Chilli Condiments., Chilli of the Valley, Ngapuhi Rd, Z's Hot Sauce and Marinade, Fire Dragon Chillies, PuckerButt Pepper Company, Ghost Foods, Baxter's Original New Zea...land, Sambal Of The Gods, Domaine Britannia Mills, MrSauceZ, Byron Bay Chilli Company, SEAFIRE GOURMET, and Dobbo's F111RE Chilli Sauce.
As promised, every dollar from the $25 AUD entry fee was donated to Lifeline NZ.
Lifeline NZ is often the last line of support for people considering suicide. They take over 125,000 calls per year and rely solely on donations to survive after Government funding was cut in 2015. New Zealand has by far the highest youth suicide rate in the developed world, so a charity very much in need.
With the $850 that Clint Meyer raised from NZ Chilli Eating Champs and the Chili Chompers Awards $767, it’s a great result from our community which will save the lives of many. It couldn’t have been done without everyone’s support whether your support was an entry fee, contribution of your time, making a nomination, or sharing a post.
