Today is our last day here at the Golden Sands. We have met so many wonderful people in our two years here. We are beyond thankful to all of the staff and guests who have made it such a pleasant place to work. We are both staying in Forster and hope to see all of your friendly faces around town. Hello from The Golden Sands. It has been a while since a I have done a post. It would be less time to send an old fashioned letter via Timbuktu. Where is Timbuktu? Africa I think. Just talk amongst yourselves and I will find out and get back to you. I'm back. Timbuktu formerly known as Timbuctoo and Timbuktoo (really lucky they changed it or there could have been mass world confusion) is in the West African nation of Mali 20kms from the Niger River on the edge of The Sahara D...esert. Not really a place I would recommend for a holiday unless of course your idea of a holiday is to be tortured by some crazy warlord and get really badly burnt whilst being really hungry and thirsty. Whatever floats your boat. Talking of holidays seeing I have been so slack posting anyone who books accommodation at The Golden Sands in the next month and mentions Timbukto when they make their booking will get $5 off our lowest rate which is the walk in rate advertised out the front of the motel, a free continental breakfast for all guests and an upgrade to a premium room if available. I will try and do more posts but we are very busy here at The Golden Sands doing things that people did before there was Facebook.

As they say, (who is or are "they'', the mysterious wise people who say obvious things and cliches) time flies and we at the Golden Sands have not been on facebook since preparing for Christmas. The weather at the moment is perfect. (apart from that rather destructive storm on the weekend) Warm days perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, walking, moseying, strolling, ambling, shopping, reading, sleeping, watching TV, barbecueing, cookin...g, and any other activity ideally suited to a weekend or a week in Forster. Come to Forster and experience all these things as well as the flags across the road from us at the Sails Resort that blow in opposite directions on a windy day. No seriously they do. I think they have a poltergoose. Please phone 02 65546222 to make a booking or email us at bookings@goldensands.net.au or send us a carrier pigeon as a last resort but not on a day where the wind is blowing from the east because the little thing would have to work to hard. Depending where you live I guess. New Zealanders and an easterly wind would be ideal if it knows how to stop. It could end up in Bogan Gate. (a small town in western NSW)

Hello from The bright and shiny Golden Sands Motor Inn in sunny Forster. Lots of work/maintenance going into preparation for Christmas. We still have rooms available over the Christmas/New Year period. Please phone the motel even if websites say the motel is full as we, like many motels, shut down the third party websites to avoid over booking. Someone could be booking on line as there is a slight delay, someone could be on the phone as well as someone walking in the door and... before you know it you have sold the one room twice. So if interested in accommodation please phone 02 65546222 and you will also get a better deal. Like it and share it and we will really look after you. More than our usual exceptional customer service. The weather for the last couple of weeks has been perfect. Beautiful sunny days which are warm but not stinking, sweaty hot. Lots of fishing people about catching a variety of swimming things. The wind has been from the north east and we hope it continues as wind from the south fish shut their mouth. We hope everyone has a relaxing time with family and friends.

Hello from The Golden Sands Motor Inn. Another lovely sunny day but thank goodness that wind has abated. Taking the dog for a walk was more like flying a kite. Little bugger nearly choked. Another fitness weekend in Forster with The Beach Bash. Obstacles all over the beach and parkland. Well I hope that's what it is or someone is in serious trouble for dumping. Don't forget Forster is very close to one of the best parts (in my opinion) of the entire coast of the world (that's... a big call) and that is Seal Rocks/Sugarloaf Point. (I get the Seal Rocks. What is Sugarloaf? Was there a bakery there that sold really nice cakes?) It is a pristine place with few buildings, except the historic lighthouse, and great views and walks. If you want to come over the Christmas/New Year period you had better book soon because Forster is close to full. Thankyou.

Hello from The Golden Sands Motor Inn in sunny, beautiful, pristine, welcoming, friendly, (add a few adjectives of your own) Forster where the beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and I'm eating pecan pie as I write this. Last weekend we hosted many of the triathletes in The Forster Triathlon. They were a great bunch of people. Very friendly and open to conversation about their sport from an enquiring motel manager. It was a successful event despite the inclemental weat...her with some of our guests acquiring places in the top three and some getting personal bests. This week sees the weather again fine. warm but not to hot with a refreshing breeze. Every now and again I will have a tip of the week. This weeks tip is for all the men who are lying in bed (not right now but later at bed time) and there is a strange noise and their wife tells them to go and investigate. Firstly, do not go in your pyjamas as no one has ever one a fight wearing pyjamas. Secondly, speak with a rough Scottish accent because that is the scariest accent of the lot.

The Golden Sands is a three star motel in the heart of Forster. We are a clean and comfortable motel which is friendly and inviting. We are an older style motel always working to keep it fresh. Our rooms are spacious, especially the premium ones, and we stll have some queen bedrooms available over the holiday period (New Year's Eve is booked out) for $135 per night if you phone 02 65546222. We believe this to be a reasonable price over the Christmas holidays on the coast. I was on front desk the other day when a phone call came from a room. The man said. "Help, I am trapped." "What do you mean trapped?" I asked. "Well I see three doors", the man said. "The first one is the bathroom, the next one is the cupboard, and the third door has a "Do not disturb' sign on it." I'd rather be in Forster....at the Golden Sands.

Cheap n cheerful motel. Bed comfortable, room as expected, pleasant manager. Great location, walked to everything.
