Great Lakes Ice is a local business that produces and distributes ice. Cold storage providers. We also build, design and engineer refrigeration systems.

Great Lakes Ice was started in 1989 by Matthew Laurie and operated out of a small commercial space in the industrial area of Tuncurry. It has since moved into a purpose-built factory at Nabiac on the highway.

Great Lakes Ice produces and distributes ice from Newcastle to Coffs Harbour. We also offer cold storage, refrigerated transport services and design, engineer and build refrigeration systems.

Another of our services is commercial hydrocarbon conversion and maintenance. Hydrocarbon refrigerants have been found to have benefits over Co2 and Ammonia. They include: saving energy (up to 40% more efficient), noise reduction, fast cooling, stable temperature, robustness for commercial applications and minimal vibration.

Hydrocarbon Refrigerants are natural, non-toxic refrigerants that have no ozone depleting properties and minimal global warming potential (GWP).

There are 5 natural refrigerants which are air, water, ammonia, Carbon Dioxide and hydrocarbon.
