Gunnedah Jockey Club Description

The Gunnedah Riverside Racecourse has a circumference of 1800 metres and a home straight of more than 400 metres. The track is a square shape with a long sweeping home turn. Inside barriers and front running can be an advantage especially from the 1200 metre start.

History:
The Gunnedah Jockey Club was founded in 1867 and is celebrating its 150th year in 2016 /17.
Organised horse racing in the Gunnedah district has been recorded as far back as 1857.

Racing as in other juristrictions was suspended during the First and Second World Wars.

It was moved to a new site, Riverside in 1946 when the Club was reformed following World War II.

Riverside has great facilities including lush garden surrounds, an undercover betting ring and grandstand, sky channel, dining room and three training tracks grass, dirt and sand.
