All contributing to the activation and rejuvenation of our urban environments and communities while strengthening key brand messages.

Habit8 can create a vision, engage communities and physically deliver constructed environments based on stories, visions and promises. It is at this point traditional Place-making /urban design firms face limitations as they are heavily focused on community engagement and planning. Our landscape architecture experience has delivered numerous built landscapes and installations. Our projects represent a “bottom up” approach to urban place making. Places, landscapes and experiences driven by user interaction and not policy planning. At the other end of the spectrum, marketing and branding companies know branding but are generally less experienced in place making. Again, we bridge that gap.

More importantly, creating a place brand is a long and costly process. It involves an intrinsic understanding of delivery of constructed space, development, planning regulation and the politics of place.

Traditional landscape architecture firms deliver physical transformation of space but unfortunately tend to treat most projects with the “one brush stroke” approach. The urban fabric hence becomes branded with that firm’s approach leading to a homogenization of places and a diluted urban environment. These environments don’t have intrinsic value and end up relying on expensive PR, way-finding and advertising to create a place brand.

Our approach layers the place brand into any physical landscapes thus consolidating sense of place from the beginning without the need for “spin doctoring” which has a short life span.
