Sometimes the World's problems seem too big for you to make a difference. But often big changes happen when all of us make little changes.
I heard Aussie mum, Natalie Isaacs, on the radio last night talking about how she got her electricity consumption down by 20% and how this inspired her to show other women how to minimise their consumption. Not just of electricity but also food, fashion and plastics.
Check out what simple things you can do, in your home and life, that wi...ll make a difference to what the world will be like for your kids by clicking the link below.

If you have ever wondered if there is any reason to be scared about what's sprayed on our food then make sure you watch tonight's Four Corners story on Glyphosate (the chemical in the weed killer Round-Up).
Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide on the planet and the World Health Organisation says it's toxic but here in Australia there's been no review of its safety for over 20 years.
If you have digestive problems like IBS or SIBO or you are sensitive to sulphites in f...ood and wine it could be the cause. This is because glyphosate strips your body of the minerals it needs to process sulphur.
This can then cause brain fog, poor concentration, fatigue, eczema, rashes, hives, itch, hot flushes and digestive problems.

Being gluten free is getting easier and easier. We were out for dinner last night at a pasta and pizza restaurant with some friends and they didn't just have gluten free pasta they also had zucchini noodles (mine is the one without cheese).
How good is that! 🤗

Is The Keto Diet The Best Diet To Lose Weight?
The Keto diet has been around for at least 100 years in different forms. Way back in time it was the Banting Diet. In the 80s and 90s it was the Atkins diet. In the early 2000s it was Body Trim. And now more recently it’s just Keto.
The principles are the same... limit carb intake to less than 40g of pure carbs and fill up on fats and proteins.
... And when you do this it makes it impossible for your body to run off carbs and forces it to run off body fat instead.
Which in theory is great and most people will lose weight pretty quickly initially. But there is a downside to Keto and it’s not what you might have heard.
The issue isn’t kidney problems from eating too much protein or heart attacks from eating too much fat. The issue is over time your brain thinks you’re in a famine because restricting carbs so much signals food is scarce.
And so your metabolism slows to conserve energy and ‘save’ you.
This is a response I used to see when I used keto programs on patients in the past. They would lose weight really easily for a while but then it would start to slow and then it would stop. Even though they were in ketosis and theoretically they should have been losing weight still.
If you’re following Keto or any diet for that matter and you’d like to know is it good for you then post a question in the comments below or send me a message. I’ll answer your question next Wednesday at 12:30pm on my Facebook Live Q&A Show.

Losing Weight Is Not About Eating Less Calories or Carbs or Fat
As we quickly move towards summer you might be thinking about the best way to shed unwanted belly, hip and thigh fat?
Most of what you read and hear centres around cutting back your carbs, calories or fat.
... But while intake is important restricting your intake too much, like you do on a diet, actually makes it harder to maintain your weight loss and to lose weight in the future.
This is because when you cut your intake right down it triggers your brain to think food is scarce and times are tough so it puts the brake on your metabolism.
To lose weight long term successfully the secret lies in triggering your brain to think food is plentiful, times are good so it’s okay for your metabolism to run at full speed.
Weight loss happens when you’re kind to your body by feeding it lots of nutrient rich (not necessarily energy rich) foods rather than starving it and punishing it.
If you have any questions about how to do this then ask it in the comments below or message me. I’ll answer your questions next Wednesday at 12:30pm on my next Facebook Live Q&A Show

Cooked or Raw... What is best?
The answer is both.
Cooked veggies are easier to digest and cooking releases more of the minerals.
... Raw fruit and veg contain more vitamins.
So a mix of both is what you want to do.
However, if you have weak digestion or digestive troubles then eating cooked fruit and veggies is the way to go. The hard fibre in raw fruit and veg can make you bloated and irritate your bowels.
What do you prefer?

Antidepressant medications can make diarrhoea type IBS worse!
In a cruel twist for IBS sufferers, if your IBS makes you feel anxious and you’ve been given an anti-anxiety SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) medication like Zoloft, Lexapro or Prozac to help, it could actually be making your diarrhoea worse.
This is because serotonin helps your bowels move and SSRI’s increase the levels of serotonin in your bowel. Too much serotonin overstimulates your bowel and every...thing moves through too fast (diarrhoea).
So if you have IBS and you are on an SSRI you might want to think about stopping or changing to something different.
Or you could naturally fix your IBS so don’t feel anxious anymore and not need the medication.

How do you eradicate SIBO to eliminate your IBS?
To eradicate the bacteria causing SIBO you need to do it in 2 phases.
The first phase starves the bacteria of food to weaken them. You do this by following a very low FODMAP diet.
... The second phase is the killing phase. You can do this with either specific antibiotics or herbs.
Being a naturopath I prefer the herbal treatment. The secret is though you need to hit the bacteria hard with a couple of antimicrobial herbal products at once.
Knowing which products to use depends on the result of your SIBO breath test and your health history.

Surprise, surprise!
Taking aspirin when there's no reason to can do you harm.
New research just published contradicts the practice of giving aspirin as 'Preventative' medicine to people as they get older.
... All it does is it damages your stomach and gut.
So if you or your parents don't have any history of coronary heart disease and your doctor has put you on low dose aspirin then tell them you'd want to stop it.

I'm at a PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome symposium today and you'd be surprised by how unhealthy the food served up at these events sometimes is.
Today however morning tea is paleo muffins and chia pots 🤗
On the PCOS side of things one point that the speakers have stressed is...
... If you have PCOS it doesn't mean you won't be able to have a baby or that you'll need IVF.
PCOS can block egg development but it doesn't destroy your eggs. And the number one way to unblock egg development is taking a natural approach...
Modify your diet, improve your lifestyle, get more active and support your ovaries with herbs and nutrients.

How do you find out if your IBS is caused by SIBO?
To find out if SIBO is causing your IBS, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation you do a breath test.
It’s a simple at home test where you blow into a bag to collect samples of your breath every 20 minutes for three hours after drinking a special sugar mixture.
... Once you've collected your samples you pack them up in a satchel provided and then post them off to a special lab.
If you have SIBO, when the lab analyses your breath samples they will detect increasing levels of hydrogen and/or methane gas produced by bacteria fermenting the sugar mixture you drank (as you can see in the image below).
If you think you might have SIBO and would like to test yourself then email me at info@healthyremedies.com.au
