Did you know the ‘study room’ developed from the closet or cabinet of the Renaissance onwards. The advent of electronic communication, the now largely superseded fax machine and computer technology has widened the appeal of dedicated home working areas.

#ThrowbackThursday - Castle Hill circa 1920s-30s
The last time Sydney's Hills Shire had trains, the surrounding landscape looked very different. Pictured is Norman Kentwell posing in front of the Rogan Hill Railway line. If you zoom in you can see the historic "Garthowen" house in the centre of the picture, which is still there today.

#ThrowbackThursday - Castle Hill, Orange Blossom Festival Parade 1983
Come and say hello to the Harcourts Hills Living team over at the Pippa's Playland area of Bella Vista Farm Park this Sunday the 16th!
From the 1800’s, the Hills Shire was known as a major citrus producing region. The high suitability of the area for growing citrus and stone fruit established the Hills District as the first commercial provider of Oranges. Citrus orchards were plentiful and the Shire was re...nowned for its agriculture. When it came to naming their local community event, the festival planners turned to local industry for inspiration and so the Orange Blossom Festival was born, its name a celebration of the first blossoms of the orange tree.

#ThrowbackThursday - Baulkham Hills 1914
A glimpse of the Baulkham Hill's of old before suburbia. Citrus orchards in 1914 grew naval or valencia oranges for market, other fruits included mandarins, grapefruits, lemons and limes. The high roofed barn on the left would have been stacked with hay for horse feed.
