Lovely Art Deco cinema. It was quite pricey the day we went ($22 per ticket) but from the advertising before the movie it seems they have plenty of disks if you know when to go. Great

Hands down the best cinema in Sydney. The only reason they're getting a 4 star rating not a 5 star rating is because their seats aren't the most comfortable or up to date (no cup holders, etc). And that if you're not watching the movie in the main (big) cinema, then the screen you're looking at is a tad on the small side. But these are minor, minor issues. The old art deco main cinema (even with the old seats) is a joy to watch movies in, and Neil Jensen magically appearing out of the floor playing the huge Wurlitzer organ at the beginning of movies (Saturday night only) is a must see. Friendly staff, who actually care about working there, and care about their patrons, is another big plus. Easily the stand out cinema in Sydney. Why would you see a movie at a soulless megaplex when there's a cinema like this on your doorstep? The other thing I love about this cinema is the fact that they show old 80s and 90s movie double bills once a month. And how great it is to go back and watch the classic movies of your youth on the big screen again!

Beautiful old cinema! Draws a respectful crowd. Not a phone to be seen during the movie. Fast ticket service and helpful staff.

Classic cinema as it used to be - and maybe should be. The main auditorium has been restored to its art deco glory. You can bring in a wine from the bar and enjoy either a classic film or a new release. Always a thrill coming here!

a beautiful place to be but not the best to see a movie! Nostalgic and magic! however the theater design does not suit the digital era!

My favourite cinema. Always love coming here. I get their newsletter so always know if someone good is visiting

A fantastic old school cinema. I have been here a few times now and I'm always impressed. They have some really unique screenings of both new and older films. My personal highlight so far was watching the Ninja turtles movie from the 90s and they even supplied pizza! I would recommend following them on Facebook to get updates on upcoming screenings. There's always something interesting

In love with this cinema. Fantastic setting, great selection of old and new. Drinks available. Far too many ads (not trailers, ads) before each movie (pretty sure I counted 27!) But that allows you time to take in the stunning architecture so I'm really not complaining :)

Although one of the more pricy movie theatres in Sydney, it is well worth it for the cleanliness and the original retro feel. They serve wine, popcorn, sweets, ice cream, coffee and hot chocolate. They don't get all of the blockbuster releases on release date, but it's worth the wait. The various other periodic events are great too - the room, kiddies events and the occasional organ recital prior to a screening gives the Orpheum an edge over other cinemas.

Easily my favourite cinema!! Well located in Cremorne and I just love the vintage atmosphere of the place. Seeing a movie here always feels a little special plus they hold cool festivals and special events. Students Mondays are also a great deal.

User

Great decor and atmosphere and they've kept the old feel of the place. Have been going here for over 30 years and it still keeps the same great vibe.
Definitely recommend going here for an experience that's totally different to the big cinema chains.

One of the very best cinemas in Sydney. All the latest US/Europe/Australian releases. Art Deco in its origins with a great atmosphere that includes a bar and kiosk. A local landmark that has seen its popularity grow through the generations.

Great movie palace with an old school, art-deco atmosphere. Themed movie shows are also fun where they screen cult movies usually for a cheaper price. They have licensed screens so you can also enjoy your whiskey while watching the movie. Also check out their website for the interesting history.
