Healthmatch Description
HealthMatch is an online clinical trial matching platform that matches patients to available trials free of charge.
HealthMatch was founded in 2017 in Sydney, by then-final year University of Sydney medical student Manuri Gunawardena. Gunawardena became aware of the inefficiencies of the clinical trial application process and of the staggering number of clinical trials that were delayed and abandoned due to insufficient patient recruitment.
Inspired to solve this predicament, she put her degree on hold – and HealthMatch was born.
The impressive startup won the TechCrunch Startup Battlefield Australia in November 2017, before it officially launched January 30, 2019.
The optimised, tech-driven platform has over 12, 000 users in Australia, and has received thousands of applications from patients to clinical trials.
HealthMatch has received funding from SquarePeg and Tempus. Charitable partners of HealthMatch include The Leukaemia Foundation, Epilepsy Action Australia, and Cystic Fibrosis Queensland.
