About Help Bring Unity Nightclub Back To Newcastle

A club that was all about UNITY in our community, putting an end to all the hate towards the LGBT community and simply bringing people together for a night to enjoy drag show productions, meet new people and have a good time, was created and celebrated in Newcastle. It was the place to be! There was always something happening and someone famous coming in, saying hi and having a dance. From Luciana to Mel B.
Unity nightclub was all about the people, the Dj’s, the music and the performers; a multi-level experience with a vibe that could take you on a whole different experience.

Unfortunately on the 7th & 8th march 2014. . It had all ended, closed down and then Unity had to make the hardest decision and close the doors, after a change of management at the Sydney Junction Hotel. The hotels new licensee wanted to go in a different direction. The thought of closing down was hard, because Unity Nightclub had become the main gay nightclub in town and where everyone would go.

Gay Clubs and bars are dying and acceptance is getting harder to find. Now its time to bring back Unity Nightclub! And this time make sure that it stays back and is even more alive and pumping then last time! Newcastle nightclub scene needs more LGBTQ nightclubs and bars, to provide an escape from the constant hostility, and to carve out spaces of their own and to hopefully lower the homophobia.

Now this is where EVERYONE has a part to play. We need everyone to show their love and support in any way they can. Show that there is a reason to try again and bring back a place that was so loved and enjoyed but is now closed and gone. (hopefully not for much longer)
Post on this page, make a petition or something where everyone and anyone can write on or sign to show their support. Let your mind go crazy and get creative! !
