High Cross Park Lodge

Upon arrival at the accommodation we were greeted with a rather hostile woman behind the counter, who we later found out was the manager. She rudely told us there was no lift and did not offer any help with bags even after requesting this.

The building has been recently refurbished and renovated, and whilst the decor is very nice and modern you would expect that a lift was installed. Not only that but the doors leading to the balcony did not fit the doorframe and so you had the noise pollution from the busy road outside. Aswell as this, the door leading to the hallway also did not fit the doorframe and the bright light and the noise kept me and my mother awake for most of the night. Upon polite request that we could be moved rooms we were told again by the manager that she couldn't move us and we were staying in the best room. We were happy to be downgraded, for no price adjustment but was told that if noise was the only problem we should buy some ear plugs from the chemist across the road!

Furthermore, there was no room service, we had the same towels for three days, there was no retopping of milk, tea or coffee, and there was no one to make the beds. Just a simple thing that you expect upon staying in a hotel that costs rather a lot.

The attitude of the manager alone would make me not recommend this place to anyone. If you have heavy bags or need a dark room that is quiet to sleep then don't chose this place. I have had better service and comfort staying in hostels.

Beautiful hotel. Room was great except for the shared laundry. The rooms do not have their own iron/ironing board which was annoying. Other than that it's a great place to stay

For the price, excellent! Welcoming, clean and warm, and located right next to the hospital I had a course at; couldn't ask for more!

Clean, affordable and quite accommodation. Strategically located near the Randwick hospitals and the University of New South Wales.

Prices were great and sleeping arrangements were fine. Only minor complaint is that we stayed there on a night before a 16 hour flight and we couldn't find enough outlets in the room to charge all of our devices. We had to carry our luggage upstairs and there was no visible elevator up front. There was a handicap entrance in the back that we never saw (which could have been a solution). Overall it suited our needs for the single night we stayed. Good location with many shops around.

The staff is rude, the rooms are small and in general is not very clean, check your room before paying for it.
BE CAREFUL WITH JULIE! She is the worst receptionist ever.
The cancellation policy is a joke and underlines what's legal and not.
Perouse Lodge, Avoca and High Cross Park lodge they all belong to the same owner so they all have the same crappy service and facilities.
