MEET KELSEY!
Favourite college memory? My first international chapel is definitely up there for favourite memory in college. I don’t think I’ve ever been as passionate about Australia as I have in that moment surrounded by 60+ other countries also screaming their lungs out. Best. Chapel. Ever.
... Why you come to college? During my final year of high school, my RDG leader suggested the idea of me doing College as a gap year before starting University, and then one night at youth I really felt the Lord place College on my heart. My leader was in her second year and I saw how much she had grown from her time studying, so with her being one of my greatest role models, College seemed like the most incredible opportunity. I thought, church is one of my favourite places to be, so why not set aside one year to set a strong biblical foundation for my life and develop my character here?
How have you found the journey so far? The past year and a half on this College journey has been the wildest journey so far. My character and relationship with God has grown in ways that I never could have imagined in such a short period of time. I have met the most incredible people here who are so full of encouragement and challenge you to step into your God-given potential, as well as being some of the funniest humans on the planet!!
What has been the biggest thing you’ve learnt? There is so much that I could say, there are so many crazy lessons we learn about the Bible, as well as just life lessons that we learn in one week! But I would say one of the biggest lessons that I have learnt is simply that God is faithful. No matter what I am feeling, how much I know, whatever my day looks like; He stays faithful and is a good God, who works all things together for good.
Any advice for the people that are thinking of coming to college? Just do it!! Don’t underestimate how much God can do in a year! The friendships and revelations you gain here are priceless.

What are you passionate about? Making music, creating new opportunities for the church to make an impact, seeing youth and young people meet Jesus, being outside in nature and exploring.
Why did you come to Hillsong College? There is something striking about studying in an environment that is fully immersed within a healthy, and pioneering Church community. I noticed those who came from Hillsong College had a passionate conviction about God, the church, and what our ‘mission’ as Christ-followers is to look like -- and I wanted that! Also, having just launched their MA program, Hillsong College is pressing deeper into the academic space within Pentecostalism, emphasising intentional study of Scripture alongside meaningful fellowship with the Holy Spirit. It was in this that I heard the Spirit say, ‘It's time for you to go here!’
How have you found the journey so far? This past year has been the most rewarding, and also stretching season for my wife and I. Being part of Hillsong Church/College, studying and serving under those that help to carry this house forward has taught us so much, and reinvigorated our spirits to pursue what God has prepared for us. With that being said, we have had to give up much. It is relationally and financially costly to move your family away from friends, comforts, security, and familiarity. Navigating that hasn't always been easy. Yet in the process God has revealed himself to us in ways we had never experienced, which has ultimately strengthened our faith for the future.
Any advice for people that are thinking of coming to college? For those that are thinking of coming to College, I would say don’t be afraid to surrender the things you have to follow the call of God on your life. We do what we can, and God is faithful to provide where we lack. In following that call, pursuing Jesus, it quickly becomes apparent how little we actually need. For my wife and I, this experience together has strengthened our faith and our marriage, and our future is filled with anticipation, expectancy, and wonder. We’ve moved from saying ‘Is this all that there is for our life?’ to saying, ‘Let’s see what God will do now!’ We’re believing this will be the same for you!

College was amazing. I can't imagine there being another place like it on earth. You are constantly challenged and constantly in God's presence and what better place to grow then God's presence. The classes are good and I learnt a lot, especially on second year. But to be honest some of the assessments seem like a complete waist of time and the organisation and accounting of college housing is HORRIBLE. God will change your life at college it's an incredible experience and I would recommend it to almost anyone. Just make sure you learn to prioritise your time when you get here or it can get overwhelming there is so much you can be involved in. It's amazing do it!
