Holidays Afloat Houseboats

Ripper!! Could not ask for a better experience from booking to bringing the boat back was awesome - best way to see the river. Rafferty held up its end of the bargain and slept 10 Blokes comfortably, allowed us to drink and fish until we dropped - BEST WEEKEND!! and i have 9 other blokes that would agree. We will be back soon!!

Yes there were one or two tiny niggles but that's all part of a good holiday story to tell the grandchildren oneday. Yes the boat leaked a bit of rain and dew above the beds, but we got to experience staying three nights on the mighty Hawkesbury, an experience bar none. Yes the water pump was noisy but we simply turned it off when not in use like we were instructed to do to save electricity (this also prevented is from running out of electricity). Yes the fridge wasn't as cold as our fridge at home (and what gas powered fridge is) but we did our homework and took frozen meat with us to help the fridge out and kept drinks in an esky (in fact now I'm just lying, it was winter and the fridge froze most of our vegetables 😊). All these are part of what makes for an adventurous holiday in an unspoilt, natural environment where you can actually see the stars at night and hear nothing but the water lapping your boat. We had bbq's, caught the biggest fish and had laughs to share for the rest of our lives. What more can you want from a holiday.

But some people will never be happy and always score one star regardless 😉.

great holiday again .this is our 8th time and will be back in march. All the staff could not be any nicer we just love the boats and have not had a bad one yet

Our freshly "refurbished" boat, "lady madonna" was possibly the worst houseboat experience.
One of the new mercury engines didn't even have steering due to kinked hydraulic lines, the roof leaked in 2 places both above beds, the waterpump failed and we had another installed but that too was also malfunctioning and was very loud at night.
The fridge wasn't cold.
We had no bar to release the anchor.
1 of the 3 doors wouldn't lock closed and one wouldn't lock open.
One of the bbq burners was seized.
The fixed esky tanks on the boat had no drain holes so the water has to be bucketed out as the ice melted.
The septic system wasn't emptied before our trip meaning we had to come back for a "20 minute" service from almost 2 hours away which then took over an hour to pump out.
The boats batteries then failed leaving us in the middle of the hawkesbury without power for 16 hours.
All issues were reported as they happened without any repairs undertaken or any actual care by the holidays afloat team.
The issues were then raised again after our trip via email as only $251 of our deposit was returned because the rest was boat insurance (fair enough) and fuel cost (even though 5 hours of boat running time was because they didn't empty the septic system)
Holidays afloat are now ignoring our emails about rectifying issues for future family's.
I know for sure I will never go with holidays afloat again and will never reccommend them again unless they would like to take responsibility for the poor service and poor maintenance of their boats.

Nice experience, expensive for what it is. Boats are a bit old and tired.
