Home Education Association Description
The Home Education Association, Inc. provides insurance, support and advocacy for people homeschooling or considering homeschooling in Australia. Help Line: 1300729991 M-F 9am-9pm.
The Home Education Association (HEA) is a non-profit, national volunteer association that supports, encourages and promotes the practice of home educating (homeschooling) in all states of Australia. HEA provides members with benefits which would be difficult to obtain by individuals or smaller groups.
HEA is a support network run by volunteer home educators for home educators and was founded on the idea that parents are the best equipped people to teach their kids. We are here to support you in your home education journey. A great place to start is the HEA website. Join up and download the Registration Pack (free for members).
Most locations have groups of home educators that meet-up regularly. It is an excellent idea to connect with local groups - try searching on Facebook. Our ‘Home Education Australia Community’ Facebook page can help you find local meet-ups and answers to the many questions we all have in the beginning of this journey. Finding a supportive group is one key, we think, to home education success.
If your child has a medical or geographical reason for home education you may qualify for Assistance for Isolated Children's (AIC) funding. There are other benefits available too and home educating parents receiving some payments may be exempt from looking for work requirements. Please contact Centrelink for more information.
