About Hotel Steyne

The Hotel Steyne is one of Manly's oldest buildings, the original pub was built in 1859 before a mysterious fire burnt the famous pub to the ground. Final renovations were made to the business in 1936 when Tooth purchased the building, since then it has become a registered heritage building. From the day the doors first opened The Hotel Steyne has been involved in all community aspects and events, earning its name as Manly's true local. The Hotel Steyne is constantly changing with the times, now with an impressive six bars and accommodation facilities the pub has something to offer everyone. Boasting ocean views, relaxed family friendly atmosphere and a variety of entertainment for all ages the Hotel Steyne really is a classic that has proven it will never go out of style.

Good prices good quality food. Great views lively atmosphere.. They have various deals on at certain times. Recommended

Great atmosphere, very small rooms, but nice to have a balcony. Clean and warm. Rather noisy from the mall and pub downstairs, but that's expected really, when you stay at a pub! Will definitely be back

Great bar but terrible door staff that are stuck in the 80's. Looking at the reviews on this channel I would seriously consider if it's worth your time going here. Go to Donny's for a better night.

Great place to hang out with friends, where you can enjoy half-price mondays!

Their burger is really good with a quite fair price, but they take forever to prepare anything.
Even when full, they plenty of space to sit.

It's worth mentioning that sometimes cockroaches will appear from the walls and floor, so the cleanliness of the bar is not the best.

Great spot for a bite and a drink. Very popular with locals and visitors alike. Great choice of food and the upstairs Glasshouse has a terrific selection of cocktails. At times this place can get very very busy and finding a place to sit can be an appetite-killing exercise.

Would highly recommend to invest some money into educating the licensing manager on international licenses. I was denied entry because she (direct quote) "has never seen a license like this before". My licence is a Russian-issued international license. I've been using it for the last 5 years in Australia and it is literally the first time in my life I have had troubles with it.

Nice place for a beer. The staff are friendly and helpful. The pub and views are great. Food is a fairly typical pub food.

Gotta be my favourite pub in Australia. One the good days this place is just the ball. Also some great events, random sometimes, great live music, especially sunday night at the Moonshine upstairs. And those cheap Monday nights dinner keep us coming back :)

Steyne has more staff with earpieces monitoring your every move than patrons. Seriously though, we wanted to celebrate with friends who had become Australian. Our group of 6 (3couples) had 3 drinks each from dead sober over 2 hours and were told we could not be served any more because we "seemed intoxicated". We argued that we only had the drinks which they had served us. The staff pointed to the security cameras and said they had decided. That's when we realized the fun police were spying on us the whole time. There are many other pubs in Manly, and we went to them instead and still had a great night. We won't be going back to the Steyne, because their obsessive monitoring policy seems to guarantee disappointment. If anything, Steyne seems unAustralian.

Nice way to finish The Spit to Manly walk. Food was delicious, beer cold and looking out over Manly beach. Big crowd in but food was served reasonably quickly. No complaints at all.

Check out their newly refurbished rooftop bar, Glasshouse. Brightly lit. Modern decor upstairs with lots of indoor greenery and a glass atrium that reveals. Rooftop views of Manly. A great place to relax and enjoy a drink with friends on a sunny day.

We continue to return here each week as the coffee is so delicious! The staff are warm and friendly and remember your name. The beachfront is a perfect spot to sip your flat white and watch people and waves go by.

Great for a few beers after a swim, as the pub is right opposite the beach. A few different bars, I always like sitting in the courtyard when there is live music. Service behind the bar a little slow.
Food service terrible and really slow. We had a 45 min wait. Over all totally over priced for pub food - but they're cashing in on the passing tourist trade.
Beer yes, Food no.
