Over the next few weeks, we will share stories and photos from these weddings and we look forward to launching the Hunter Wetlands as a go-to destination for environmental weddings in the City of Newcastle and the Hunter. Great feature on NBN Television tonight featuring the Just I Do celebrants Ronda and Jack and long time volunteer and wedding host Jenny Castles. Find out more about getting married at the Wetlands -> www.wetlands.org.au/weddings
We are so pleased to have the celebrants from Just I Do now on site with the Hunter's own Registry Style Room. In their own words, "The simplest, affordable and quickest way to get married." Of course, we would like to add, the room is in one of the most beautiful locations in the Hunter! The Just I Do celebrants are donating their services as part of our Free Wedding Day this Saturday, which will see 11 couples get married all over our beautiful grounds.

COMMENT CONTEST: Name all three birds shown in the images below, who frequent Hunter Wetlands.
Have you ever wondered why birds need wetlands? 🤔
There are 3 main reasons why birds need wetlands; for feeding, breeding and as a place to refuel and rest during migrations.
... They don’t necessarily stay in one wetland area, but will move between them. For example, many waterbirds move regularly to newly flooded habitats to feed and/or breed before that wetland dries out.
Equally, semi-permanent, permanent and coastal wetlands provide refuge for birds when wetlands in other regions are dry for long periods.

Needs better map and directions as we were frustrated and lost and never found any boardwalks.
Needs to outline activities at the door as we missed them.. Actually didn't know they existed until we were leaving.
Needs to advise of cafe hours as had plans to come back for coffee and afternoon tea but although wetlands close at 4 the actual cafe closes at 2.. We got back at 2:10.
Needs to sell something other than soft drink in the shop.
A lot can be improved.
Ps no plethora of Pokemon just a few rattatas.

Great fun. They have various assortments of reptiles from lizards to crocodiles and snakes. The only thing that bothered me was that one of the signs has a typo. (Included on the photos) otherwise everything else was great!
Cheap and cheerful. Take a picnic. Weekend had some free repile shows so call ahead for times.
Lovely place to for a nature walk, bird watching and just getting back to nature.
Lovely walk around park. Felt a little dirty from all the bird droppings though. Friendly staff. Expected more greenery and animals but still a nice walk. Very peaceful & cheap activity for families.
Great day out for the kids with ks of paths and bike riding tracks.
Plenty of stuff to do with the whole family so make sure you spare a few hours.
The Cafe is no longer open which is a little disappointing.
Wow. How is this even a tourist spot. The ranger discussions were worth not her star but the rest of the park was well below average and bereft of attractions. Weeds seemed more prominent than wetlands.
While the staff were very friendly and the cafe view was fantastic, I walked the recommended one hour trail and didn't really see a great deal at the time save for lakes birds and spiders. Worth a visit for a few hours but I'm sorry, its far from a 5 star attraction.
Enjoy the mozzies! Lovely Park tho
Wow! What a great place for teachers to bring school children for an excursion. They learn about the environment and protecting the delicate wetlands. Wonderful!
4 stars for the wetlands but always seem to be disappointed with café for many reasons. 1 star for café.
The outdoor spaces are fantastic, especially on the edge of dusk.....the place comes alive with the sounds of nature.
