When someone is exposed to hazardous dusts in the workplace, our Dust Diseases Care team steps in to support them and provide personalised care.
Since our formation on 1st September 2015, we’ve worked hard to cut red tape and reduce wait times. Three years ago, decisions about dust diseases claims used to take 136 days. Now they take just 42.

Having friends at work makes a huge difference to how you feel about your job. Without them, you’re less productive, take more sick days and you're more likely to get injured at work.
If you’re an employer in the Wollongong area, we want to share our research on social connection with you and give you some tips to help you to create a healthier workplace.

A study by Monash University has found that truck driving is one of the unhealthiest and most dangerous jobs in the country.
We know that some workplaces are inherently more dangerous than others. We’ve got a dedicated team at icare that partners with NSW businesses to help them reduce workplace injuries.

We all know how intimidating the first day at a new job can be. That’s why we’re taking off our hats to Daniel, who, on the first day of his apprenticeship at KONE Elevators Australia & New Zealand, was brave enough to speak up about an unsafe situation.
KONE Elevators Australia & New Zealand is a fantastic example of an organisation instilling a strong safety culture in their young workers from day one.

Good social connection at work has a positive effect on employees and the business. icare was in #Newcastle this week to share our research with employers and to find ways to make this happen. Mika (left) and Adriana (second from right) from NSW Health Pathology were there, along with Caroline Howe and Andrew Ellery from icare. Andrew's message: "Our research says that your employer doesn’t need to know all the answers, but s/he does need to listen to their people." The work of the icare foundation was featured on ABC RadioNational Best Practice over the weekend. The foundation is funding Craig's Table NSW inc and Primary & Community Care Services because it recognises the benefit of programs that address a recovering employee's need for social connection.

We’re so excited to announce that today we launched a $1.5 million partnership with Remarkable
Every day, we support almost 1,500 people who have been severely injured in road accidents or at work. Because of this, we know that people living with disabilities continue to face significant barriers to living their life the way they want.
Remarkable, a division of Cerebral Palsy Alliance, knows this too, which is why they ‘accelerate’ disability-focused tech start-ups. This mea...ns they provide start-ups with funding and mentoring to help them become successful businesses so that they can go on to make positive, tangible differences to the lives of people living with disability.

Have you been injured at work, or do you know someone who has?
In 2016-17, approximately 75,000 people were injured in their workplace, costing NSW employers a whopping $1.7bn in Workers Compensation.
We want to help create safer workplaces, because that means fewer injuries and lower premiums. If you think your workplace could improve, encourage them to get in touch with us here at icare.

icare Lifetime Care assists people to regain skills and become independent following a serious injury. For some people, this means taking control and managing their own supports. This is Greg’s story.

Last year, we implemented an innovative pilot of the ‘icare Medical Support Panel (MSP)’ to trial how a panel of credible medical specialists with specific expertise in occupational medicine and psychiatry could improve the treatment and medical causation decision timeframes, and provision of treatment, for workers with an injury. The MSP pilot results were compelling, reinforcing that by focusing on customer needs as opposed to process, we can achieve significant improvements and better outcomes for the workers. The MSP is now being embedded as a permanent part of the icare claims model.
