If anyone is free tomorrow they are urgently seeking consumer input on the design of the birth environment at Wollongong Hospital:
There is a second walk through and audit of the birthing suites using the BUDSET tool tomorrow at 1.30pm (likely to take an hour). We have 2 women able to attend but a couple more would be really valuable and help give more of a voice to our concerns!
The follow up workshop is Tuesday 10.30am-12.30pm. We really need 2 more of us to achieve full r...epresentation.
Baby wearing is ok for Tuesday but the hospital can't accommodate mobile little ones or any little ones at all for the Monday session.

Dear Friends of Illawarra Birth Choices,
Our next meeting is this coming Monday 18th August at the usual venue of Dapto Ribbonwood Centre from 10:30am.
This month's topic for discussion will be 'Breastfeeding: the good, the bad and the ugly!' led by local Australian Breastfeeding Association Counsellor, Teena Luck. So bring your questions and funny (or not so funny) stories to share.
... Children are always welcome and we have great indoor and outdoor facilities. Please bring some morning tea to share if you are able.
Looking forward to catching up with you there :)

Dear Likers (and Lovers!) of Illawarra Birth Choices,
In-line with guidance from our parent organisation Maternity Choices Australia, this page will now be changing to a closed group.
This will bring many benefits to our members, including an improvement in our ability to communicate with you. Also, because only group members can see posts, the group will be a more private space for discussion of birth related issues.
... If you want to join us in the closed group, simply search for 'Illawarra Birth Choices' and find the listing with a rainbow icon. Click on this to request membership. Once you've been added you can easily nominate friends to join too.
We look forward to interacting with you more and providing a safe place to share stories, resources and support for one another.

Our monthly meeting is on tomorrow and the topic is 'HOMEBIRTH, is it for me?' The discussion will be facilitated by our very own Bec Coddington, research midwife, doula and homebirther.
Bec will give us an outline of the evidence on the safety of homebirth as well as discussing local options and answering common questions and concerns.
Bring your little ones for a play from 10.30am at Dapto Ribbonwood Centre. We have lots of indoor and outdoor space! Please bring a plate of food to share along with your questions, comments and stories :) We look forward to seeing you there

Illawarra Birth Choices will be hosting one of the world premiere screenings of the film MICRO-BIRTH in September this year.
Please get in touch if you'd like to be part of the organising committee... We need YOU to make this event a success and spread the word about the latest scientific research showing that how we give birth impacts the lifelong health of our children and potentially the future of humanity. http://microbirth.com

What's your take on prenatal testing? Ever feel like we have 'too much information'?
