As an institute, the IETC is a not-for-profit organisation whose overall mission is to contribute to the improvement in ethical trade & cooperation standards in Australia by: a. Promoting the establishment of international codes of ethics (hereafter referred to as "ICE") which are new standards of corporate ethical responsibility in international (development and) trade. b. Promoting bodies internationally, including a central international organization part of or closely associated with the United Nations, to monitor the application of those standards internationally (which shall be known as the Institute for Ethical Trade & Cooperation (IETC)). c. Promoting the establishment of an Australian Chapter which shall be known in Australia as the Institute for Ethical Trade & Cooperation (IETC) Australia). d. By establishing such organization(s) create the conditions whereby international (development and) trade can at last be conducted in an environment where: i. companies trade internationally according to an ethics accreditation process;ii. trade is limited world-wide as far as possible to companies that are accredited and that mandate an ethical approach to business at all times; andothers . . .
