Transpersonal Coaching is pushing the boundaries of coaching beyond Newtonian-Cartesian thinking into a new comprehensive world view integrating both the science and spirituality of personal and organisational development.

“We are reaching the point where it will become more and more apparent that the thinking and strategies that got us into our concerns and troubles in the first place are not going to work to get us out. We will have to do something radically different”(Grof, Stan, 2008. Birthing the Transpersonal).

Transpersonal coaching is a developmental form of coaching as it explores and illuminates other and all ways of knowing beyond what is referred to above as ‘’Newtonian-Cartisian thinking’ model, as well as beyond habits of mind, and ruts of culture.

Sir John Whitmore a key figure in Transpersonal coaching sees the pivotal role that coaches play in being able to have the skills, approaches and aptitudes to support client’s into the depths and heights of consciousness –“to become ‘self-directed and responsible…(critical he believes, ) if we are to overcome the enormity of our resistance to go beyond the personal and activate the extraordinary and enlightened creativity of human potential to address our universal contemporary needs” (Sir John Whitmore, personal communication, 2007 as quoted in Evidence-based coaching: Flourishing or Languishing. Grant, Cavanagh, 2007).
