The Ionic Detox is a negative Ion footbath. Negative Ions are passed through an array, you complete the circuit. The negative Ionic charge (gentle, felt as a slight tingle) separates impurities and toxins from the bloodstream, lymphatic system and as the cleanse progresses, the endocrine system, organs, muscles, tissues etc. The array causes a "pull".
The feet have about 2000 pores each. As the blood pumps around the body, it is collecting the releases toxins etc and the array pulls them into the water bath through the pores and into the water. It starts as a film on the water then more material is released and it starts to clump, changing to heavier darker material as the liver etc is cleansed. (evident in the photos)
