The little things that make me smile.
Dolly Dagger hanging on through the paddocks, the calves which are now around a month old are well into eating the donated fruit, veg, bread and milk, little piggies getting fatter, daddy pig with his head in the feed bucket, oh and empty washing baskets, yes the pump is going into to get fixed and we have a replacement pump on till ours comes back, so no more yelling, CAN SOMEONE TURN THE PUMP ON.

After 10 yrs she is finally tired and worn out, I know how she feels. 😜 you can’t hear it very well but it sounds like a jet engine is in there.
Big day, fed my Roos at 6am then off at 7.30am for a 1.5hr drive to watch the wild child win the semi finals with his footy team mates, then another 1/2 hr drive to pick up another baby roo, turn around to head home but had to drive an extra hour to pick up from a bakery, turn around head home, unload the bread, load up for a wood de...livery, unload the wood, get back home at 6.30 to feed my calves, pigs, chooks and dogs oh and hubby and the kids. Finally at 8.40pm I’m done.
Not sure what the 2 Johns did today but I’m sure it was working around here fixing things and prepping the bigger animal feeds. Can’t wait for tomorrow with another full on day. 🙄
Was today really Sunday, a day of rest !!

Crookwell wind farm, look at that rain in the distance.

🌧🌧 Both Johns are out cutting wood in the rain, I get to deliver it later

A new little lamb 😁, this one will stay with its mum. We have lost way to many this year so will keep a close eye on this little one.

User

Not sure where it’s raining but hopefully the clouds start rolling in here soon.

Remember if it’s not in season don’t buy it, it’s imported. If we continually buy imported foods we starve our fellow farmers.

Today is an exciting day, it’s tip run day 🤣, last week was house rubbish, this week cardboard, next week cash in on all the bottles and cans.
Johnny left with John at lunch time for our big stock feed pick up day, John comes out of school every Friday after lunch to do the run with Johnny.
I’m sitting here till Sonny comes out of school, then off to footy training.
... Love Friday’s because we don’t do wood deliveries and we can get things done around the house in day light and actually spend the morning together rather then just passing each other. Johnny won’t be home till dark, then it’s sorting the food and feeding animals.

They say parts of QLD and NSW drought areas will get a months worth of rain in 1 day this weekend. People think that it will break the drought, yep it will be great but most will just run off into the creeks and fill dams. Not much will get soaked in because the ground is to hard and dry. It will be a long while yet before the drought breaks.
Put your buckets out everyone and let’s hope rain is on its way.

Yep and every trip to town it’s a fight on who has to get out and open the gates 😂😂

The sad reality of raising poddy calves or lambs for that matter. My success rate has always been good, raise them on calf milk, nurture them, protect them, get vet help when needed, ask advise from a very knowledgeable friend, get them onto solid feed and send them into the paddock for Johnny to raise till ready to sell.
It’s extremely costly to put all the time, effort and money into them especially if they don’t survive.
Not this year, I’ve done my best but I’ve lost to ...many including this one,the extreme cold days and nights haven’t helped. I just want to give it up because I’m not doing a good job at keeping them alive.
I’ll stick to raising the kids, there doing alright for a 10 and 12 year old.
