Driven by smart eco-design with respect for the role of nature and the art of repurposing, Jambarrga Orchards offers impressive views, serenity and refined accommodation. This is the perfect enclave to indulge, rejuvenate and take in the beauty and essence of country life.

The inspiration for Jambarrga Orchards was derived from the natural aspects of the property itself. Spanning 55 acres, the property undulates from a tall eucalypt forest at the front gate, winding down through the trees and across shallow gullies before rising up to the prominent position of the residence. Sited to promote sustainability, the property also enjoys spectacular rural views from every room.

From the residence, the property slopes gently away towards Buckra Bendinni Creek, which runs year-round. The land is dotted with a variety of beautiful tree ferns. The local Indigenous word for these ferns is “jambarrga” hence the name chosen for our property.

We feel fortunate to have found such a beautiful spot to call home and have taken great care to ensure that we are responsible stewards of the land we inhabit. This privilege is respected in the aesthetic of the residence, with every inclusion and the design approach aiming to honour the ground it is built upon. Incorporating rustic elements in harmony with nature, organic influences for an informal elegance, and modern conveniences for comfort and liveability, this is a welcome country retreat.

We have carefully chosen building materials with enduring qualities such as travertine tiles, bamboo flooring, high efficiency electric and gas appliances, as well as water efficient fixtures to minimise our environmental impact. Window placement and size have been designed to maximise the abundance of natural light and to appreciate the stunning rural views.

The property is self-sufficient, relying on 36 solar panels and a substantial bank of batteries for power. Water is sourced exclusively from rainwater harvested from our roofs and further filtered for purity. The primary solar hot water system is backed-up by LPG to ensure a constant supply.

Ceiling fans in every room along with passive heating and cooling design provide year round comfort. A central wood burner utilising logs sourced directly from the property, keeps the residence warm during the winter season and provides a special ambiance to the Main Room.

We have done these things in an effort to optimise the principles of sustainability whilst still being able to strike a beautiful balance between living comfortably and living responsibly.
