Jody's Guesthouses is a small, family-run guesthouse business with accommodations situated in the Campsie and St. Peters suburbs of Sydney, Australia. Our concept was borne from a desire to combine a full-time job with caring for my son Elliott, and began with me renting just a few rooms in my own home. Spurred by popular demand for our cheap and cheerful rooms, we sought further restoration projects to expand our accommodation offerings, and as of 2012, now have 25 rooms across Sydney!

Scruffy Old Campsie Guesthouse

Situated within a grungy Sydney suburb less than 20 minutes from the city centre, Scruffy Old Campsie Guesthouse was the first of our rundown acquisitions earmarked for restoration. With a collapsed verandah and crumbling walls, it has been an ongoing labour of love to bring it up to a habitable standard, and there are still areas in need of work. But, if you don't mind a hostel standard of accommodation and sharing communal areas with other guests, it does offer excellent value for money.

Accommodations at Campsie range in size from small single units to large dorm rooms capable of sleeping up to 8 people. It's also extremely family-friendly, and we're happy to provide cots and children's bedding for those with little ones in tow. As of 2013, our family rooms all now have child-safe baths fitted, in addition to the three communal bathrooms available. Campsie is a self-catering guesthouse, and our kitchens are fully equipped with everything you'll need to cook up a storm during your stay. If, however, you'd prefer to explore the area's multifarious dining options, we'll be happy to provide a few recommendations!

Crossroads Rundown Guesthouse

Ideally located within the industrial suburb of St. Peters, our newest acquisition, Crossroads Rundown Guesthouse, is a popular crash pad for independent travellers wanting to explore the city. Our guesthouse is housed on the second floor of a dilapidated industrial building, and reflects much of the character of the local area. Less than 5 km from the nearest airport, St. Peters can be a little noisy with road and overhead traffic, however we can provide earplugs if this is an issue. Our location puts us within convenient proximity of the nearby universities and hospitals, as well as various transport links to Sydney.

Due to its former use, nearly all of the rooms at Crossroads are still partially tiled and carpeted, but they are comfortable. Our self-contained single rooms have just enough space for a bed, hanging rail and small desk area, while the larger family and dorm rooms can be adapted to sleep up to 6 people. Our Crossroads Guesthouse is a little like Campsie in the respect that it is a hostel style of accommodation, however, there are no TVs or living rooms here. Most of our visitors to Crossroads use it merely as a crash pad while exploring the city. Guests are welcome to use our communal kitchen facilities, but if you prefer to eat out, there are a host of great restaurants and pubs on our doorstep, including Hungry Jacks (Burger King) and KFC. We're also just a bus ride away from Marrickville, where you'll find a huge mall, supermarket and a plenitude of bars and cafes.
