Very proud of my Monday night Advanced dancers for working hard with our new choreography. Zambra Mora Abanico was a really fun piece to create. Working in a 12/8 compás with Flamenco fans was a challenge for a group of Bellydancers, but they did it and rocked it!

Awesome performance today at the Bellydance Expo with my beautiful dancers. Not only did they learn how to dance with a brand new prop (Flamenco Fans) which is very different to our Bellydance fans but had to get their ears in tune to a 12/8 compás! I travelled from Hobart to attend the Live Music Intensive a month before I was travelling to Egypt for a week-long intensive with Randa Kamal and her band. It was FANTASTIC preparation, and much more intensive than the Randa training I must say. I learned more in this preparation for my Cairo training than I did in Cairo because of the intimacy of the setting and the willingness and generosity of the musicians to work with us. I am stunned by the quality of musicians we have here in Sydney, and the opportunity to study with them, in such a collaborative way was just amazing. So up-close and interactive. Jrisi's direction was immaculate (I've never seen anything like it) and the task of directing that number of dancers that were not accustomed to being directed in a troupe was gob-smacking. Jrisi you are a GEM!!! Wow. Your ability to bring the dancers and musicians together in a way to pull out what you did is nothing short of genius. I will definitely be back with bells on, any time I can. Thanks a million XXX
