Jun Jaree Sanctuary

About Jun Jaree Sanctuary

Jun Jaree is place to rekindle your Wild Nature. A retreat and nature education centre nestled in a patch of dry rainforest on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

Jun Jaree Sanctuary Description

A place to reconnect with Nature, learn how to care for land and come together in community through workshops and retreats.

We are holding various workshops, retreats and other events, so please stay tuned and get in contact if you resonate with what we do!

Jun Jaree is a Gumbayngirr name for this part of the Country and means "having a tail". It is a sanctuary for all forms of life. We are home to many species of threatened animals such as koalas, lyrebirds, tree frogs, turtles wallabies and Black cockatoos. We hope in time to establish biological reserves of native plants and provide substantial habitat for all wildlife.

We are also working with the local Gumbaingirr Aboriginal community to help us remember how to look after Country in the best way.

The land is 100 acres of mostly bushland. It is made up of a diversity of eucalypt forest which is returning back to dry rainforest. We adjoin both Dungirr (Koala) national park and Mistake State Forest with many kilometres of bush tracks and fire trails.

We are west of Macksville, in between Port Maquarie and Coffs Harbour on the coast.
