Kan Zen Ryu Karate Figtree Dojo emphasis is on the practical aspects of karate, focusing on teaching a realistic approach to self-defense. Established in Wollongong in the early 1970's, Figtree Kan Zen Ryu Karate continues its proud tradition.

Kan Zen Ryu Karate was first established in Wollongong in the early 1970's, the Figtree Kan Zen Ryu Karate Dojo carries on the proud tradition & prides itself in teaching traditional karate & "real world" self defense. We welcome old and new members and invite you to come and join us free of charge for a two week trial.

All ages from 8 years up are most welcome.

There is no experience necessary and all fitness levels are encouraged to come and train. As karate is all about personal development, each of us progresses at our own rate, be it technique, understanding, fitness, strength, flexibility, etc, all aspects are a gradual progression. You will see yourself become more adept at technique, fitter, stronger and more flexible in a guided and sustainable manner no matter what your age or current fitness level.

Our Dojo also welcomes visitors from other styles to come and train in the spirit of friendship and learning.
