Karlangu Aboriginal Art Centre Description

Karlangu Aboriginal Art Centre is located on York Street near Wynyard Station, the heart of Sydney. The gallery is about 200 square meters giving us enough space to display a great collection of Aboriginal Art from different parts of Australia.

At Karlangu Aboriginal Art Centre our aim is to provide our customers paintings that enrich their lives beyond the day to day affairs. We believe that a piece of art should bring you a sense of peacefulness and joy, something that can help you get the frustrations of day out of your system. It should not be just a drawing on a piece of canvas or paper. It should bring an extra dimension of spirituality and a story, magic to capture your soul, and let your mind wonder. You should be able to look at it, enjoy and contemplate.

To achieve this aim we source our artwork from across of Australia, from Alice Springs, Utopia, Papunya, Arnham Land, Kintore, Northern, Western and Southern NSW, Queensland and Western Australia, showcasing works by :

Minnie Pwerle, Emily Pwerle, Gloria Petyarre, Janet Nakamarra Long, Walala Tjapaltjarri, Thomas Tjapaltjarri, Ningura Napurrula, Mary Napurrula, Marie Nabraula, Gracie Morton, Tony Sorby, Rosemary Petyarre, George Ward, Kathleen Patyarre, Susan Napaltjarri Gibson, Audry Brumby, Trisha Mason, Kudditj Kngwarreye, Anna Pitjarra, Janet Golder Kngwarreye, Cindy Morton, Josie Petrick, Jeannie Petyarre, Mary Rumble Pitjara, Audry Martin Napanangka, Ngoia Pollard Napaltjarri, Hilda Bird, Betty Mbitjana, Walangkurra Napanangka, Lily Kelly Napangardi, Barbara Weir, Judy Watson, and many more. . .

Ali Azimi offers with this gallery a cosy place where daring to enter and browse through beautiful art is made possible. While being in Sydney, I really fell in love with Aboriginal art and wished to bring something home. In Karlangu, I found both amazing artists and an art dealer I could trust. I was astonished to be able to touch and move art while standing in my sunburned and sweaty tourist glory (with my family, we were back from a - hot - day at the zoo), to hear the story behind each work and to learn so much about the artists. That time, I selected a beauty from Tony Sorby. Since then, I have followed the gallery online and bought two more pieces from different artists and enjoyed the experience each time: a fair price for all parties, quick answers to all mails, many options for the payment, swift sending of the parcel (it takes something like 6 days to travel from Australia to France) and of course, the paintings themselves. Just be aware that as beautiful as the pictures on the site are, they never really do justice to the originals and you will always be amazed at what you receive. I cannot recommend this gallery warmly enough.
