Katoomba French Hot Bread

Disgrace....cheesecake slice was very old obviously!!! Dry disgustingly stale! How dare a bakery sell such stale products! You expect fresh from a bakery, not this rubbish!

Warning this is probably the worst bakery you will ever buy from... and I am not being unreasonable. If I could give zero stars I would! I walked in and asked what meat was in their meat pies (because sign just said meat pie) and the lady got stroppy with me and was quite rude. I then asked for a jam donut and croissant. Now the 'donut' was totally stale and tough... literally tasted like damper (you know, flour and water mixed when you go camping) and was inedible. So I thought ok I'll try the croissant which they charged a dollar to put 'jam' on, this was also incredibly stale and the jam tasted like that artificial flavouring which is a powder mixed with water to create a sickly sweet syrup. Yep I'm pretty sure they used this to create a paste and tried to pass it as jam. It was comical how ludicrously disgusting it tasted. I am pretty sure the only reason they have not yet shut down is because unknowing tourists and ppl like myself had no idea how terrible they were. Do yourself a favour and walk another 50 metres to the Homing Bakery which is the polar opposite.

Ventured into this establishment to purchase lunch and left feeling nauseous, exploited and violated. The rancid, leaking impotent pie contained the flesh of an unknown creature immersed in some tepid random fluids speckled with odor and taste disguising spices wrapped up in a greasy tasteless substance. It festered in my bowels for days leaving me incapacitated, irritable and forlorn. Mind you it paled in comparison to the abomination that masqueraded as a vanilla slice, I couldn't chew let alone swallow this sweating lump of excrement, with synthetic tasteless custard textured like mortar and pastry like a salada biscuit I was reduced to a convulsive dry wretching mess after one bite. Don't even get me started on the (absence of) customer service, value for money, cleanliness or facilities.
Ahhhhh! Avoid this place like the plague!!!!

I've bought the large Vienna loaf from here a couple of times (at $2 it feels more like stealing). It is a fluffy white piece of heaven and really addictive. Such a bargain!

My wife and I have been coming up to in Katoomba for climbing and hiking for years now and at 6a.m everyday they are always opens for amazing, cheap, delicious pies, coffee and chicken rolls. oh and $2 loafs of bread and always the signature line of "something else" :-)
