Our history

Since opening our doors in 1993, we have grown and transformed from a team of 3 with one program into an organisation with a variety of program areas being covered within Kempsey Family Support Service and with our partner organisations, employing 16 staff working in fields of specialised service delivery. Despite the changes that have occurred over the years, the fundamental mission of the organisation remains, to support individuals respectfully and with dignity, regardless of gender, age or ethnic background to promote family wellbeing and to be safe from violence.

Operating environment

As a result of the growth and transformation, Kempsey Family Support Service has become an essential element in the network of service providers in the region.

We now have formalised links with other service sector organisations to provide community-wide holistic services to families and individuals seeking assistance with their social welfare and health related needs.

Our internal operating environment has enjoyed great stability over time, with minimal staff turnover. Members of the Committee of Management continue to provide the strategic directions and manage our growth as an organisation in a balanced and professional manner.
