Our Dietitian - Catherine Underwood
We are delighted to have dietitian, Catherine Underwood of Harvest Nutrition as part of our team at the Kings Langley Family Practice. Catherine is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist with a commitment to helping her clients adopt a healthy eating approach that is sustainable. Overly restrictive diets just don’t work, so Catherine will help her patients adopt a way of healthy eating that fits with their lifestyle and takes... into account the psychology behind the foods we eat.
Catherine will take the time to listen to what patients really want to achieve and work together to develop a plan to implement lifestyle changes that will make a difference for today, tomorrow and the years ahead. The focus is on consuming mostly wholefoods that nourish our bodies, eating less processed foods, eating mindfully and learning to trust and care for ourselves. This approach helps to prevent disease, improve energy levels and generally help people reap the benefits of good health.
As a mother of two teenagers with a busy family life, Catherine has had experience in corporate, private and medical centres providing dietary advise to a range of age groups. She brings this life experience to her consultations to provide advise and education that is tailored to each individual.
Catherine has extensive experience in helping clients deal with the challenges of maintaining a healthy weight and preventing and managing chronic conditions (eg high cholesterol, hypertension, insulin resistance and diabetes). Catherine gains immense satisfaction throughout the process of providing education and support for her patients to make dietary changing that then result in improvements in blood cholesterol and blood glucose levels. It is proof that dietary changes and exercise can really alter the path of lifestyle related diseases.
Food allergies and intolerances can impact negatively a person’s quality of life. Through implementing evidence based dietary changes Catherine can help patients to identify foods that exacerbate their symptoms and follow a systematic strategy of elimination and reintroduction to provide improved overall healthy and quality of life.
Catherine always applies evidence-based expertise to provide effective advice where nutritional management is the cornerstone of treatment.
