Wonderful atmosphere, professional and friendly staff, and great food/cocktails. I would absolutely reccomend Kitami!

Fantastic atmosphere and lovely sushi and cocktails.

I work as a chef I can tell it's real Japanese restaurant in newy , come serval times already also it's the only real Japanese I would visit.

For the prices you pay here - the food quality and service is way below of what it should be

I came up from my sydney yesterday to spend time with my best friend & her husband. We thought Red Barron was a great spot to relax, chat & dine! Last night I had to clear the table from the previous occupants to sit down, set the table so that we could eat! We waited over an hour for our first entree (while tables who arrived after us were served) we kept being told "sorry for the wait" but nothing kept happening! The poor buggers were absolutely slammed & short staffed! Amazing food! Terrible service! With all the sorry's that we got, should have been reflected on a bill! People around us, literally just got up and left because they were sick of being forgotten about! Red Barron - you could have at least thanked us for sticking out the 2 hour wait for food with a free drink!

Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to announce that we will be catering for a lovely Japanese festival this sunday in Cameron grove. The wonderful people at sutekihome will be overseeing this little function, there will be taiko performances, Karate demonstrations, Japanese games and we will be making our Takoyaki, Yakisoba fresh on site and free of charge (limited stock). This will however mean that our Carrington location will be closed on Saturday the 25th in preparation for this festival, if you have any questions please ask our friends at sutekihomes their info is listed below.

We regret to inform you that we will be closing our Hamilton branch as of the 3rd of August and have ceased our dinner service as of 30th of June.
After 9 fantastic years at Hamilton it’s time to say goodbye to our beloved shop, there is however a silver lining to this situation, we will be focusing on more on our Carrington and King street locations.
... In the near future Carrington will be starting dinner service focusing more on a family friendly environment as well as getting a seating increase. There will be 28 seats available inside and a further 12 outside totalling 40 seats as well as serving all the dishes the our Hamilton location does ( BYO optional).
Also fresh SUSHI will be back only lunch time!!!

Visited for dinner and drinks on a Friday night. Ordered mixed sashimi only to be told 'sorry no sashimi tonight.' Not great for a Japanese establishment. Would stick to the listed cocktails - ordered a couple of standard unlisted cocktails and, well, wouldn't order them again. Ambience was great but no sashimi and average cocktails made this an average visit.
