KJR Legal born in January 2012, attained its genesis as a Branch Office (remote office) of a boutique specialist business law firm in Sydney CBD known as Teddington Legal. A firm willing to trial establishing a ‘virtual lawyer’ or ‘virtual law practice’ model. At that time the model wasn’t supported fully in Australia by the technology and resources required, However, it still led to Directors at Teddington optimistic and they created a hybrid firm and founding (in Australia) the concept of a truly ‘dispersed law firm’.
Eventually time came for Teddington Legal (Penrith) to evolve into it’s own entity, that could offer services more specifically relevant to the population in the area. Re-establishing itself under Principal Solicitor Kristy Howell in her own capacity as a sole trader in 2015 and trading as CLB Lawyers the opened it’s services as a part-time, limited service firm. Only able to offer legal services on a consultant or case-at-a-time basis. Acknowledging the limitations of a firm on this basis plans were started for the second, but this time solid re-establishment of the firm to set it up for its future.
Principal Solicitor and Company Director, Kristy Howell – based locally in Penrith and committed to seeing the city and the firm succeed was admitted to practice law in NSW in 2008 At this time she was still employed fulltime and not wanting to limit herself to being 'just a lawyer' Kristy continued to work as a Manager for a NSW government agency, a job she genuinely loved for the most part but always knew was destined to end as she was driven to pursue her love of the law and need to be a legal practitioner and help clients with their legal problems.
