La Cocina Sydney, Homestyle Mexican Cooking Description
I am an American who’s been living in Australia since December, 2010—first in the little sugar-town of Mackay, QLD—and now in the Inner-West of Sydney, NSW.
My travels have taken me to many countries on 5 continents, and while I have always enjoyed exploring the traditions and cultures of the places I visit, food has been a major interest—Mexican being one of my favorites. I’ve accumulated a fairly large knowledge of Mexican cuisine, which I have presented in classes here in Australia, and abroad.
I am again offering lessons on the creation of AUTHENTIC tasting, HEALTHY, home-style Mexican food—this time, in Sydney. Currently, classes are 5 hours:
noon to 5: oo pm--Sundays
Using locally obtained ingredients, we focus on the start-to-finish preparation of an AUTHENTIC tasting, healthy, CLASSIC Mexican main-course such as:
• Tacos
• Burritos
• Enchiladas
• Tamales
• Mayan Pibil
• Chili Verde
• Quesadillas
• Super Nachos
We also will prepare:
• Accompanying Salsas
• Side Dishes
• Appropriate Condiments and Toppings
LEARN • COOK • LAUGH • EAT
Our “standard” 5-hour class teaches the preparation of a main course, and 4 side dishes. You will learn some of the ways I have discovered for providing REAL MEXICAN TASTE using ingredients easily obtained in most Australian supermarkets.
You will be provided with an awareness of techniques, spices, and processes, with a recipe sheet for each dish (providing an easy follow-along and a handy document for later use in your own kitchen).
At the end of class—a Mexican feast is ready for you to enjoy.
