A gorgeous and charming French cafe and patisserie with staff who actually speak French, mouth-watering baked goods, and excellent coffee. I love to sit in the courtyard at the back with my coffee and pastry and contemplate how good life is.

DON'T BUY THE CAKE!!!👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
I ordered a cake online because it supposed to be a nice shinny marble style looking cake. But then it became honeycomb with many holes when I picked it up. I request to change another but all the staff (4 staff include the chef) insisted that it is the one and refused to do anything. Even the chef said it's normal to look like that!! Also the staff just took it in n out to show to their colleagues, finally they damaged all the edge of my cake and just repack it and pass to me.

Also they just deleted my comment form Facebook. What a service !

They "USED TO BE" nice patisserie that I purchased for almost every celebration in the past.

Don't buy Unless you expect the cake won't look the same as you order. Otherwise, never in the future.

Great coffee and beautiful cakes! A nice place to relax with friends in the garden after shopping or walking around. But beware of the aggressive birds! They flew onto our table and was trying to steal our food.

Nice terrace in the back. Great place to hangout and have a coffee and pastries.

My only qualm is they did not have lemons for our tea or ice cubes.

I bought a sausage bread and a croissant in today evening. I had a time to choose a croissant but after your advice. The croissant was below average and I was disappointed. It wasn’t fresh and looked like old, not made today. Expensive comparing with taste. And it was asked something like a tomato tube when wrapping and paying them to take away. I thought a jam because it was loud and busy. However it wasn’t free and charged. When typing that, it wasn’t needed for me. Bread wasn’t satisfied and staff service wasn’t good. Why is here famous? Not recommended.

Hands down the most amazing cafe I've ever been to! It has such a warm, inviting, Parisian atmosphere and can I just say the almond croissants are FREAKIN DELICIOUS!! They do great cappuccinos and hot chocolates and the staff is extremely friendly. I will definitely be coming back.

Ordered the chocolate Zulu cake online, had a couple of friendly exchanges with Mimi who made everything so easy. I wanted a custom size cake to feed 60 people which was no problem at all. They were even able to offer delivery for a small fee which made it super easy. The cake looked and tasted amazing!!! These guys love what they do and are very skilled at there craft. If you are ever lucky enough to taste a cake this good you will never feel the same way about any other chocolate cake.
Keep up the great work guys! cant wait to try my next cake!!!

We went in this afternoon for some takeaway cakes and were greeted with friendly and cheerful service (including some helpful advice about proper French pronouns for cakes). Our cakes were packaged in a lovely box and bag which ensured they looked as good as new after a train and car trip home.

We ordered a 'Zulu' chocolate dome with crispy rice balls inside and a nice tempered chocolate garnish that had a 'snap' as you bit into it. The flavour of the chocolate mousse was light and well balanced.

The cheesecake was a set (not baked) cheesecake with a lemon base and citrus garnish as well as a pleasantly tart curd on top. This is the first time I've actually enjoyed a lemon cheesecake. It had a soft texture and I found it quite refreshing.

We found a line out the door when we got there and after enjoying the cakes it's clear why people are lining up at La Renaissance. 5/5 will visit again.

Their ham and cheese croissant is a cheese bomb with cheese inside and covered on top. We can't see the ham but tasted it on every bite. We love ham and cheese croissant from Arsicault in San Francisco, and we came back here again before we leave Sydney. The tarts and pies are really good. The texture and flavor of macarons are disappointing. Their attention to service is excellent.

A taste of France in The Rocks! Very good quality products, try the ham and cheese with bechamel croissant and their quiches. This is how they should taste :)

User

Amazing food, good customer service. Would love it if they could make more baguettes, everytime i come it's so packed and they run out of stuff even if it's only 2pm. The place is quite small and the line can be pretty long.

Normally not one to complain or get upset about inflated pricing or sad service, however I bought a sausage roll for $7.50????? whilst walking through the Rocks yesterday and it was the worst I've ever had. Very cheaply filled with some sort of stuffing and hardly any meat. If that's what a foreigner would have to experience in Sydney, I'm embarrassed . Maybe if the guy behind the counter had shown some personality I probably wouldn't have felt so ripped off ....... Just saying!!!!!
