Lake Illawarra High seeks to provide a truly comprehensive education for all students to enable the realisation of individual potential and we applaud students who work hard and achieve their personal best to excel in their academic, sporting and cultural endeavors.

Teachers at Lake Illawarra High set high standards and believe that learning is most powerful when there is a caring and supportive environment where students are valued as individuals and they experience success. Students are challenged, extended and encouraged to set goals for themselves and to make a contribution to others. Teachers continually assess what students can do and plan their teaching to maximize students potential.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities that enhance their learning. Examples of these can be found in the sporting, academic and cultural fields. Many of our students have excelled in these areas.

The school has strong links with many external organisations including TAFE and the University of Wollongong as well as other outside agencies.

2013 also saw the introduction of ‘Benson’ as a member of our staff. Benson works with the students in our Special Education classes and has been a valued addition to our school. He is looked after by Mr Ryan Olender who is a teacher within the Special Education Unit.
