The Les Elvin Kungera Arts Gallery is a small gallery located within the Hunter Valley Visitors Centre showcasing local Aboriginal artists.
Les Elvin Kungera Arts Gallery Description
The Les Elvin Kungera Arts Gallery is a small gallery located in the Hunter Valley Visitors Centre at Pokolbin showcasing local Aboriginal artist who worked closely with Uncle Les including Leslie Salam, Saretta Fielding and Vickie Purvis. Les Elvin was an artist and art teacher who lived in Cessnock, NSW. He was a descendant of the Gringai /Wonnarua people of the Upper Hunter region in eastern NSW.
His art has been recognised and sold internationally, but one of the things that made Les unique was how he uses his talents. He volunteered his services at a number workshops through out the Upper Hunter. Working in health, education, corrections services, social services and mental health service.
His influence lives on. . .
