This agency practices gazumping. Found them to be deceitful and untruthful.

If you want a real estate agent that can't make appointments for viewings, will have people knocking on your door without appointments ,has negative feedback for your property and will get you a price WAY below asking, like $80K below...this is the agency for you. Dealing with this agency has put me off for life...I will now be selling my property myself and will never deal with another agent.Absolutely pitiful.

THIS IS ABOUT THE BATEMANS BAY BRANCH ONLY.

We are moving from four hours away, and looked at a house on our one and only house hunting trip to the Bay two weeks ago. A week later we were told our application was approved. YAY!

Our joy soon turned to grief when I rang up this morning to confirm our move/tenancy dates and pay the bond (I had been in contact with the Agent prior to this mind you). But this morning, I was told the house was gone.

No phone call, no care shown, nothing. I have a job to start in Moruya and have to put my start date off because of this. I complained to the "lessee" who was flippant, tried to fob it off on the owner, and generally didn't seem to give a toss. "I'll look into it" she said. We'll see what that turns up.

This is unscrupulous, unethical behaviour at its finest; L J Hooker Bateman's Bay need to get rid of the agent who caused this, or maybe lose their licence.

I had the displeasure of trying to book a holiday rental through them however they do not return calls. My family and I missed out on our preferred rental when they would not call me back.
I will not deal with LJ Hooker Batemans Bay again they are very unprofessional and in competent.

Rubbish sales team

Really poor service

I used the services of this agent and that was the WORST decision i made.
In my opinion I lost alot of money on my property due to ill experiance and misleading information.
They would overprice my property and I would ask them are you sure thats the right asking price and they would be say YES dont worry.
Well that resulted in my property staying unsold for 9 month and took it off the market and the rest is history as they say.
I would not recommend to anyone.

LJ Hooker Terrigal's sales team have been extremely helpful in my search for our future family home

I have rented through the LJ Hooker Terrigal office for the past 6 years and are very pleased with the property management department's communication and support with any concerns we have had.

I wish I could give them NO STARS but I had to give one star to post this review.

I have had 2 previous agencies manage my property but moved to LJ Hooker Terrigal as I believed the advertising. I CAN'T RECOMMEND the property management department of LJ Hooker, Terrigal at all. They don't manage your property - YOU MANAGE YOUR PROPERTY - & you pay them management fees.

1. I had 4 property managers in 4.5 years & one lot of tenants had 3 property managers in 3 of those 4.5 years. At one stage, I was notified that I had a 5th property manager, which would have meant, the tenants mentioned above, would have had 4 property managers. I refused to have a 5th property manager.
2. The lease was due to be renewed & the 4th property manager FORGOT to increase the rent on the lease, despite the 4th property manager initiating the conversation for a rent increase & I agreed to the increase.
3. At the 1st open house to get new tenants NO ONE from LJ Hooker Terrigal showed. The employee who did the open houses went to their next open house, despite the fact it was still my time slot when I phoned them. The people were waiting on the footpath. This employee rang me back, ASKED ME for the contact details of the people, their addresses, etc.
4. As there was no paper-work to use from this open house, my 4th property manager said I should drop the rent to initiate more interest! I suggested I drop the 4th property manager as it was not logical to suggest a drop in rent from the first open house, considering no one from LJ Hooker Terrigal turned up.
5. At the 2nd open house, there was ANOTHER new employee - the forgetful one had been PROMOTED to sales! This new employee was a security nightmare as they left the front doors unlocked, windows open after EVERY open house. Despite telling them directly to lock up, I still had to go & check, & lock up after this employee. My 4th property manager simply said they would mention it to the employee to lock up - obviously didn't.
6. At the 4th open house, a member of the Sales Department at LJ Hooker, Terrigal went to the open house to give the new employee "a hand". The sales employee told tenants to put in an offer on the rent. It wasn't listed as ONO but I got an offer. My 4th property manager just laughed & wanted me to take the offer.
7. The 4th property manager never drove past to check on the street appeal. I HAD TO & let them know that the lawn needed mowing, gardens needed tidying etc by the tenant.
8. The mid-lease property condition report was done by - you guessed it - ANOTHER EMPLOYEE!! Why didn't the 4th property manager do the inspection? How does the 4th property manager "manage" your property?
9. There was an electrical fault at the property which required an out-of-hours call-out by Energy Australia. The first I knew of this was when the account was sent to me. I asked what was wrong - the 4th property manager didn't know - didn't even have the job number in front of them! EVENTUALLY, the job number was located in the office, so I PHONED Energy Australia. Out of courtesy, I phoned my 4th property manager back to let them know & I heard them say in the background, to "take a message". I never got a call back.
10. With a previous tenant, this 4th property manager missed, during a property condition report, 2 broken windows, 2 doors off hinges (they were in the closed position so you couldn't see the doors off the wardrobe) and 3 broken slats. They did not go into the sunroom as it was "smelly" & missed broken flyscreen frames, sliding doors off tracks & an over-run back yard. My partner was there at this inspection & none of the above faults were listed in the property condition report. In fact, the backyard was listed as tidy. The only way to get to the backyard was through the sunroom.
Then when these tenants finally vacated, my 4th property manager TOOK A WEEK OFF & had someone else do the outgoing inspection!
11. The 4th property manager NEVER pronounced my name correctly, even after continual correction. One of the rules of business etiquette ignored.

I've just purchased an investment property in Terrigal and found the services of LJ Hooker Terrigal to be very efficient and professional. They found tenants for my property on the first weekend at a very good rental.

If you are a tradesman I suggest you do not perform any work for L.J Hooker Toronto. My husband did some plumbing work for them. They have a habit of employing tradespeople and then use every excuse not to pay their bills. Stay away.

Terrible, incompetent realestate. I am currently homeless because I couldn't obtain a rental through this agency. Like many of the agencies here in Newcastle, they treat you like you're just a number, not like you're a human being. We're all scrambling for a home and yet we have almost zero human contact with these people. It's hard to know if a person will be a good tenant unless you meet them in person and hear their story.

I found out I was blacklisted on some dodgy rental database, yet these heartless people at LJ Hooker Hamilton didn't let me know.

So I just kept on applying for places thinking maybe my application just didn't look good enough. 2 weeks later I find out about the blacklisting after I ASKED another agency what was going on. According to law they are supposed to tell me I'm blacklisted. Instead, I'm sending in multiple applications with people saying "sorry, you haven't been accepted" without any real explanation. Now I must leave Newcastle because no agencies will accept me. Thank you LJ Hooker, I've been homeless for 2 1/2 weeks now.

I have been putting off writing a review because I thought whats the point but months later the whole situation still upsets me.

My partner and I were very interested in a house that lj hooker hamilton was intrusted to sell. The house was up for auction 6 weeks after its first viewing, we attended almost every weekend and every viewing we would ask the agent for a ballpark figure and everytime she would give us some crap excuse and I would hear her tell the same thing to everyone else. We put an offer in at $560k prior to the auction as we were very keen and the offer was turned down. The house went to auction where it didnt meet the reserve. The house price was then put up and they were wanting around $590k. Two weeks later it was sold for $552k, $8k less than we had previously offered. I am beyond appalled at how they didnt even get in contact with us to see if we still wanted to offer our $560k as well as the fact that they lost thier client money.

If you want a real estate agent that will screw buyers around and not look out for the best interest of their sellers then look no further then LJ Hooker Hamilton.

Ive been looking at purchasing my own property and admittedly have little knowledge in the field. The staff at LJ Hookers have been first class in offering advice and answering all my questions and enquiries.

As a potential first time home-owner I have inquired at several agencies around the Newcastle area yet have often been left disappointed at the information which has been portrayed and direction to take in this venture.

LJ Hooker Parramatta have a great Property management Team led by Costa Athanassiou.

My property in Westmead is being managed by Costa and his team and the level of professionalism showcased by Costa is second to none.

The effort that he puts in every time whilst dealing with issues and keeping landlords in the loop and providing updates is highly commended. The response time to any queries is lightning.

I believe Costa is an asset to LJ Hooker Parramatta.

They are also fair with dealing with the tenants and they respond quickly to their inquires as well.

In short, every cent that landlord pays as the management fees to your company is worth it.

Costa is professional and sensible in his approach to tenants. Our experience renting of LJ Hooker through Costa was a pleasant one.

Be prepared for a nightmare experience..the management of this office is atrocious, and the attitude the manager gives will drive you up the wall. As a tenant they were impossible to communicate with, and as a landlord they just told me outright lies.

Unfortunately LJ Hooker standards in many offices are atrocious. You can google the news to find the enormous number of criminal charges laid against LJ Hooker staff for a variety of dodgy practices.

Worst Service Ever.. numerous time requested to fix hot plate, I got answer every time that will fix it as soon as possible. It's been 3 months but not fixed yet. Not recommended to anyone living in parramatta area. If any repairing work in property get it fix before you signed lease. If they are telling you that they will fix this problem. don't trust them. You'll be chasing months and months then after but no response from them. Not recommended at all.

If you've read the previous reviews and compare to the newer reviews you can see the agency has slowly turned around. And you will see only one name that keeps coming up on the good review: Costa Athanassiou. I am not sure how the rest of the agency is so I am giving it a 4 star. But Costa is 5+ on his own. I was requested to leave from my tenanted property due to the owner moving in himself. With a newborn baby it couldn't have been worse news. Costa went above and beyond and guaranteed me a new property next to my old one. I have never felt so important as a tenant. Thank you Costa!
